Hello Everyone,
So much like the majority i have been thinking about building a trailer. Starting looking around here and got the "must have" feeling about one of these. Post after post of people buying these and rigging them up. Very cool. My question is where are all of you finding these trailers ? And what is a reasonable price for one that is in fair shape ?
Thanks

found our M101 CDN in the MUD classifieds.

Gotta be persistent. As you say, they're popular and go quick if they're in good shape. Ones that need some TLC are less, but consider your skill and tool sets if you go that route.

If your going to tow with the FJ40 in your avatar I'd lean towards a 416 or 101CDN. A US m101 series is a pretty big/heavy starting point for a 40.

You must have one big@ss log splitter!:D

wow

Yeah ,that thing is huge. I don't need anything that big could almost put the forty in that.

Where are we finding these trailers?

Well, let's see...

My Bantam civilian trailer was pieced together with a tub from a wrecking yard and the rest of the parts from a rusted hulk in a farmers field.

My first M100 was hacked out of a jungle of blackberries in a friends' backyard.

My second M100 came from a trade. I had an old flathead engine a friend needed for his Tucker Sno-Cat.

Hope that helps.

Alot of municipal and county fire and sheriff departments (along with the Forest Service) picked up M416 and M100 trailers as federal excess. They'll pop up at local auctions every now and then. Just about every USFS base I land at has a couple pushed in to the weeds where they're just rotting away. I remember 3 M-274 Mules sitting behind the helibase at Crane Flat for years, I know of an M416 and M100 at Lake Isabella sitting in a USFS yard filled with garbage. They're out there, you just have to look around.
My M100 was purchased as a lot of 3 bought from a hermit in the Mojave Desert. It had been used as a bullit box and had some LARGE holes in it (not to mention the holes cut for a generator).

I picked up my M416 off Ebay for just over $400. I just picked up a 9/43 MBT (WWII 1/4 ton trailer) off of Craigs List for $400. In both cases I had to travel a couple of hunderd miles to get them. Both came with titles. Which makes things easier.

The cargo box of an US 101 is not all that big but the pic does make it look huge. Must be the angle

Military trailers

Got my MB-T at a Jeep swap meet, it needed a lot of work which can add up quick $$$$

wow, I found quite a few close to me up for auction, my question is to anyone familiar buying thru the auction, I noticed they required an EUC (end use certificate) what exactly is this and where do you get it?

Thanks for the help.

I was denied reg. at the DMV because I didn't have the cert. One gal there was cool and was going to overlook that requirment, but another took over and busted my chops. I figured a way around the mess.
