Another crazy BaT auction.

@ikarus you should list yours there. Your photography shots alone will boost the price by 5k lol

My comment is far less about my vehicle and far more about my time. I've already experienced a lot of what my LX can and will do. That's the good news. The bad news is that I don't often have the time to get away. Ah, life.

The comments about all the gear is just ancillary. In over 40 years of living, I've never had a RTT, and likely won't. I've slept in the back of trucks, on the ground, and in various types of ground tents. I've been across the western US and heard countless noises that are likely animals I wouldn't want to visit with. No worries there.
There are definitely places in NA where a hard sided camper would be preferable to sleeping in a soft sided tent with regards to bears. Worrying about cougars in a tent is just silly, but there are places/times where bear danger is relatively high in a soft sided tent. That said, a RTT doesn't change that equation. A bear that wants to taste your chapstick is coming right on into your soft sided RTT just like it would a ground tent. In one sense, an RTT seems convenient, but in another sense I don't want to have to take down my tent to drive my rig, and I'd prefer to not have a couple hundred extra pounds as high in the air as possible to further lift the center of gravity. Just my thoughts on why I will likely never buy one.

Almost $70k after BAT fees.......

Yep, like one comment said, about $50k paid for modifications. Also, the convenience of not having to drop your vehicle off at the shop and wait for install. Lots of tech/stock market money out there these days looking for a home. Not shocked that the buyer's handle was db[SFO].

It sold for $65,001. So we all need to take care of our 100 seires..

I can't imagine paying 65k for something with a head unit that is essentially worthless since its from 2005. Although maybe this person either doesn't care about that or has the money to track down the parts to change it.

Maybe they only listen to NPR.

The truck was built to the owner's specifications and will sell for market value to a willing and able buyer on a website that spent over 10 years aggregating a specific audience. I see zero problems with that. While some of you may think its nonsensical, it makes 100% perfect sense to the buyer. We would ALL have built this truck different, sure, but to each his own and good luck to the seller!
Are You #madbro? the consensus Commentary on the impracticality of the build is telling. Kind of looks like it was built up used a few a times and sold....look at condition...po didn’t hit any monster Trails with all that s*** loaded. Also nobody was dogging the shop or their craftsmanship, it looks quite exceptional. And yes BaT has been capitalizing on suckers with big wallets and bigger impulses For 10 years

Well sold!

I'd say a $25K loss on a build like that is pretty damn good. In the world of tech companies, if they scale up fast enough and book enough orders, they can get rich off the investment capitol.

Nice looking truck. Though I would have built a beefier suspension for less, a lot less. Nice to look at. Though I wouldn't be taking it too far off-road.

Someone spent 68k on a 100 series with FUEL wheels.

FUEL.

Crazy. That's a bolt-on build. That's it. BaT really has become a place for people with more money than brains.

That being said there's plenty of builds just like this in the 100 series section. So I don't understand the comments about this not being needed, yada yada.

How about this, I’ll start a thread detailing my journey, starting with the photography and clean up and everything all the way through and we can watch the bidding together. It’ll be a roller coaster I’m sure. If I got anything above 20k I’d be stoked.

Sucker born every minute, i love my 100, but 65K for that is ridiculous. If it was a 2007 LC with 50,000 miles or something on it then maybe, even then that's a stretch.

i disagree. I'm building my 06 lx470 to almost the same, with dissent rear/front/roofrack,sliders/electrical/scs wheels, lift, rtt, etc....
with the cost of the car and build so far and it's not fully complete yet i'm at about 30ish and some change. It'll be another 5k before I think I"m fully done. But here's the catch, it's taken me since september of last year when I made the purchase of my vehicle. So it comes down to time. Some folks value time more than they value money. I'd say it's about 25-30k over price but it'll take almost a year to go through the same build. This is turn key. You can easily make 20-30k in the market per year. There's going to be folks that value time more than they value money. And in some instance, time is money. It's a hobby. There's no hate in this. Good for the buyer. Great for the seller.

Don't people always preach you can't get the money you spent in mods back when you sell though?

i didn't preach that so i'm not coming off as a hypocrite =P

Usually is the case @thebeedeegee . It appears bat is the spot to go if you want your money back oN your mids. And @jerebear21 what you said and your expanded story is something me and a lot of guys on here would love to talk about over beers at the ire of most wives girlfriends. How cool is the story going to be for the new buyer...”I dunno dude I bought it at an auction”

i didn't preach that so i'm not coming off as a hypocrite =P

haha true, and apparently you can get your money back according to this. Just find the right buyer.

the statement about time is a good one, it comes down to whether they enjoy working on the truck or not for some reason I love cussing in the garage. I almost hate it while I'm working, but it's just so satisfying once it's done. And yeah what a boring story over. beers "I dunno dude I just paid 60k and picked her up" I guess some people are impressed by that

If I was rich I'd just have a big ass shop with tons of tools so I could torture my self trying to figure out how to do things I have no business doing
