I'm looking for an H55F top plate for a 40 series. Does anyone have one you want to sell or know where I can get one? Thanks!

I am supposedly getting two of them from the middle east at some point. But I have no timeline on that
Price will be around $2k each

Holy crap! 2k! Not saying it's not worth it but just incredible that no one has been able to replicate. Good thing I have what I need with my top covers!

Sad that Covid created a problem getting the reproductions done. Sure the price point before Covid was going to be much less than $2K. I loaned a cover to help it done but was not part of the reproduction.

The reality is most of your 40 series covers are going to be located outside the US. I've found with help in Australia a H55F of a 83 BJ42 with most of what was needed to bolt up to a FJ40. A second cover was actually offered to me as a package deal with a correct 40 series shift knob, 83/84 40 series H55F inspection cover on the transmission tunnel and H55F shifter from a LHD 60 series. That too came from out of the US. Few other opportunities from outside North America I passed on. The ones I've purchased weren't cheap at the time but now seem like a bargain.

@nogo in Australia successfully reproduced a copy that worked/ran/drove/shifted, but has had machine shop difficulties with quality control. He’s still working on it.

Thread dig, but wondering what a top cover is worth these days (either with or without the rest of the gearbox).

We have a couple of them here at the shop.

One was “built” by our buddy Ian in OZ, the other one is OEM 40-series.
