I haven't ordered bumperettes yet. You have some? I was just in Des Moines last night. Picked up a hardtop and a couple sets of ambi doors. I am getting going to be ready here very soon. 7 days or less.what are you doing for the hatch vs ambi doors???
btw - you didn't need to order bumperettes...
when you going to be ready for a road trip?
The rear legs aren't bolted down yet. I ran out of JIS nuts and bolts and want them to match inside the cabin. Many attempts to contact 'davework' and he isn't getting back to me. I'm going to order some from the local parts store so I can get those bolted down correctly (its just hanging there as you can see) and then install the rear jump seats. What is up with the roll bar...it doesn't seem to sit correctly...
I already have the hatch. Painted and ready for assembly. I will probably just fabricate the top bar to make it work. But I am interested in the bumperettes. I've got some stuff from Matt rolling in tomorrow. A couple side marker lights. Then will get those along with the rear tail lights wired up. I am ordering some aftermarket seat belts then will be able to drive down and see you and that bada$$ cummins FJ40. or is it a Bj now? Yeah its the one on CLlet me know when you're coming through on sat... yes I have a couple sets of bumperettes, also have a coffee can or two of each size proper bolts after raiding Mr Tarnow's stash. Also have a hatch and the rear top crossbar part you'd need, but not looking necessarily to sell. Maybe.
Probably can't get away to tag along and see that one down south (assuming its the one on CL)... looks like its probably worth it for the price. Let me know though, would like to to if I can.
You need to meet the guy close to me here that is just finishing a 3.3 cummins deisel into a 72 fj40, will give you some ideas...
No they are not. They are intentionally installed this way.
Agreed. Thanks.Good edit; the guy was just asking a question.![]()
Weagle99 I don't think you have read this entire build up. Everything on this truck is custom. To a non purist it looks like a factory FJ40. However being its a 78 frame and powertrain with 72/73 body panels and square tube bumper I'm trying to make look factory. I've looked at the lights right side up and upside down and I prefer the way they are mounted. Its a preference thing for me. All in all when this truck is finished it will 'look' factory but won't be factory. The next truck I am building will be a 79 FJ40. It will not have mixed and matched parts. I have a box of new parts ready to roll on that project. I am learning from this project. This truck will be very nice when its done but there are things I won't repeat when I build my 79. All the guys who build these trucks know you have to start somewhere.
