Do I need shims to be level? Was wondering before I install springs. Thanks..

I have a 72 fj40 with front drums. Is there a difference in brake line extensions? Thanks..

Power steering?

What's the best power steering conversion for my 72' fj40 from stock?

I installed the 4" softride springs on my 71 and didnt use any shims and had no issues. Not saying you wont....just I didnt. I was really impressed with the ride when I was done. I think the shims are mostly needed when you change shackle lengths.

I've got this lift on my '76, I didn't need caster shims with stock length shackles. You will need the extended frame to axle brake lines, cheapest route is NAPA 38009 ;)

The easiest PS conversion is sourcing a '79-'85 4x4 Mini truck steering box from the junk yard, various venders sell pedestals to mount it to your truck. This goes in the stock location and used all the stock linkage. You'll then need a bracket for either a Toyota or Saginaw PS pump, look at the FAQ for PS conversion for more info.

Good luck!

Unless you use extended shackles you won't need caster correction shims. I run the same springs with extended shackels and only run the correction shims on the front with no issues for 10 yrs.

Gu671, where did you get a skyjacker fj40 suspension? I have been looking and researching and thought they stopped making them for 40's. Thanks.
