Hello,

Figured I’d introduce myself and a possible issue I am having. Just purchased a 2021 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition. I’ve always been a Toyota owner and the LC was always a vehicle I wanted.

The LC I purchased had only 2 miles on it. It now has 100 miles. I went to put it into 4 low and it does not feel that it is transitioning to 4 low. Furthermore, the 4 low light on the gauge cluster is blinking with an audible noise. Is there a “break-in” period in order to engage 4 low or am I facing a mechanical issue already? I’ve tried engaging 4 low from park and drive. Same result.

Here is a link to the video.

Thank you for your help!

George

- Try shifting to Park or Neutral first, then move into 4Lo.
- Try restarting the rig while it's in 4Lo

Keep trying. It could be a couple of things. It is a couple of years old and the actuator could be stiff. Also, some have challenges shifting into or out of low if the transfer case fluid is cold. Drive around and warm it up.

Okay I don’t know what it was but it now works! Thank you guys!
That would bolster the case for the common sticky actuator. If it’s not something you use often, you’re probably fine with the ol “keep trying” method. If it is, the fix is on here somewhere, not a hard fix with a beer in hand.

Now that it is working I would strongly recommend you actuate 4Lo and CDL atleast once a month. The biggest issue with anything Land Cruiser is lack of use. Everything on a Land Cruiser, including acruators, are designed to get heavy use.

Will do. Yes I believe you are correct and that it was stuck from not being used and the LC sitting. I will make sure to use it once a month. Appreciate your help!
