A friend of mine told me about this product called Ospho. I was told that it works great on rust. Kind of like POR- 15. I found some at a local hardware store. I tried it on a few parts and it's incredible how that stuff works🫨. It literally ate the rust off of the metal and left it looking brand new with kind of a black finish to it. They had like 4-5 gallons of it at the store . I saw it for sale on line in the States for $ 65/ gallon. They were selling it here for $50.00😵.
Works like magic. Get some if you can find it.
I have a few rusted out antique guns that are gona be meeting Mr.Ospho early tomorrow🤣

I use the stuff a lot. It's basically phosphoric acid. Some epoxy primer brands are sensitive to it so make sure you neutralize it if the paint brand you use specifies it.

I use it to get the heavy mill scale off my steel too. Good stuff.

If the pocket equalizes, how does it help in a long term off camber situation with low fuel level? Do you just play the odds that it won’t be that off camber for that long? Does it return faster than it goes out of the pocket?

I stewed on this a long time before I built my tank, ended up putting a low baffle in it with a hole for a one way valve thing, hope it’s not a gimmick. The returns go into the baffled area.

First pic side view of the tank, second of the one way valve. Only a 34ish gallon tank and there is a center baffle in it as well.

Where did you get the valve from ?

Where did you get the valve from ?

It’s basically a ping pong ball, rolls over to a seal one direction, fuel pushes it open to a pin in the other and lets flow through.

The tank is in. I ordered a floatless sending unit for it. It sits perfectly flush with the bottom of the frame rails. We installed a piece of 1/8" thick 4" x 4" x7" long piece of angle stainless on each side of the tank and drilled 3 holes in each . We will then drill the rails and bolt this sucker . I'll make sure to weld the bolt heads to the rails to make my life easier, should I ever need to take it out for repairs or service.
The tank is now only visible if someone looks underneath the truck or when the bed is removed. The rear bumper and frame rails totally block 🚫 its view from the rear and sides. I can barely imagine anything hitting this thing from the ground and damaging it.

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do with this thread. When we were building my tank I had to make a recessed area for differential clearance and I thought that was going to leave me with a 12-14 gallon tank. I ended up with 22 gallons of capacity and I was extremely excited! I can’t imagine how surprised that I would have been with a 62-gallon capacity.

The Tanks Inc. sender is a very good product. I have one in my Cruiser and it is very accurate. You can also get these made custom length if you order them directly from the manufacturer.

That thing was waaaay too big. When I calculated the weight full, I was like :Heck no. The range was huge but my God ! Over 300 lbs hanging off the rear of the chassis + the bed + the rear bumper+ the spare tire/ wheel i... Seemed extreme to me. Brought it down to 31.

Well dang, so much for driving to Miami!

Sorry for not posting any updates. I was traveling with the family. In the mean time a few parts came in and after many failed attempts at building my own upper rear cab panel, I admitted that it would probably be best to not waste anymore time with it . I looked everywhere for a good used one but every single one I found on line was around the 3 thousand dollar mark🥶.... Iwas sent a link by a fellow mud member and it was like $975.00.
I found one on a website called Alibaba.... for whatever reason I am not comfortable sending my hard earned cash to something called Alibaba 🤫,I mean .... I was a kid once and I read the book Alibaba an the 40 thieves... Anyway, their price for that part is $350 .00 . Shipping from China to Florida is $500.00 andbi have to wait 3 long months for it to be delivered in Miami + wait another 3 weeks wait to receive it at home if all goes well....Which brings me to 850.00 , then I still need to have it shipped home. Another 350- 400... this is getting expensive quick🥵
My best bet is to buy that Chinese part from a US reseller for 950. I'll just need to wait about 2 to 3 weeks to get it.
Anyone parting out a 45 and has that part for sale ,please chime in and let me know . I'd rather have an Oem part that that flimsy Chinese metal but hey ,I am tire of failing at building this.

You are not failing!
There is no fail. At least until you give up, and then it still might not be “fail”.
Maybe you are floundering.
Hopefully this part can come through.
We’ve seen you build some amazing panels, I’m not familiar with what you need but I’m actually surprised you can’t build it, with what I’ve seen you and your crew do.

We actually attempted three times and I 'm just never satisfied with how it comes out. I don't want this thing to have to be made of more body filler than steel..... We have not been successful at making the seals fit properly around the corner windows 🥵🥵🥵. This has kept this project from advancing and I keep seeing you guys driving absolutely gorgeous ,finished trucks while I'm standing idle..... Yeah, I'm a bit envious, so I spoke to this guy from a company that builds those in Colombia 🇨🇴. He claims to build body panels for these trucks. Apparently, the parts are built overseas, but the corporation is American.
If anyone here has purchased from them and has good or bad feedback from them or their products, please chime in.
They accept Paypal, which is a great sign but I am not interested in having to wait weeks more only to have to start another lengthy process to get reimbursed.
He wanted $ 2100.00 including shipping, delivered in Miami. I see them on ebay for 975.00. No one has them in stock.
I told him the price i see them go for and he agreed to sell it for $1200.00 , delivered in Miami. Sounds great, but i fear a scam....
Trying to do my due diligence before pulling the trigger....

Ok. I ordered it . I also got a pair of ambulance doors for my 40.
1200.00 for that FJ45 rear panel and 290.00 for the ambulance doors. He says that they're constructed from 18 gauge sheet metal . I used 16 gauge for everything else I built but I think it will be fine.
Since I was not so certain of the seller , I paid with that credit card everyone hates🤣. At least if I do not get my stuff, they'll reimburse me.
I'm gonna post some pics of the parts I ordered from them for you guys to have an appreciation of the quality, that way if he's legit and I do get my stuff , the rest of your guys can order what you need.
Special thanks to Ditcheman and to all the others for trying to help.
