The open question I have is whether Toyota did it the way Ford does that you can put in a generator mode that manages battery and automatically idles as necessary to generate when the battery is low. If not - borderline inexcusable miss by Toyota. It would be incredibly lazy to not have integrated that option.
Agreed, not including that feature would be a HUGE miss. It would need a "charge" setting to fully top off the battery prior to setting up camp.
 
Yes - the battery looks to be ~160 amp/hours, or equivalent to ~3 group 34 AGM batteries. And it recharges driving down a hill or just by idling the engine. No need to add-ons like solar panels, expensive aftermarket battery and controller, big alternator, etc. They hybrid battery could provide all of that. It would definitely be nice to power your fridge simply by using your brakes on a hill instead of wasting that energy by warping rotors and wearing out pads.

That's very interesting and may go a long was to compensate for other things.

Will there be a way to actually connect things to that hybrid battery as I'm assuming it won't charge the standard 12v battery should it drain and the engine was off?

I’d imagine it to be like other Toyota Hybrid models.

Park it… and turn on AC or Heat and it idles as required to keep up with depleting battery to certain level.
 
I’ve had the 2000 Honda generator with me while out and about in back of my built 100.

The new 2400 watts of the 250 is awesome

Heated blankets/Arb fridge /Microwave/ air frier/ Small heater / Ac unit/ led lights/ …. Various other needed items when over land camping or just out on a day with family.

Very neat.

I camped near an f150 hybrid this summer. I was jealous. Full camp power. Super quiet idle. For a hybrid truck - this is the way.

Im pretty sure it can't do this. The accessories are belt driven off the engine. So, no heat pump or AC when the engine isn't running. Would be pretty great though.

On Sienna forum, this was done over night and burned approximately 1.5 gal of fuel from what the read out stated.

You have an option for the engine to remain on or turn off after 1 hour. Just need to select that continuously on option.

Prius campers do this all the time.

I was wrong. I was pretty sure the tundra was belts drive. But no. It's electric like the sienna. Should work just like the sienna. That's a pretty compelling benefit over the non hybrid models. The more I learn, the better it looks.

Dude…. I may have cried a little the day I sold my Built Zero! rust 100 series.

I bought a Brand New 2022 Sienna Sports edition

After owning and driving that for 26k miles… I can say honestly, I enjoy that freaking minivan almost as much as I did that Cruiser because! It’s an Awesome Hybrid.

Now that, is saying A Lot!

I miss my cruisers I had.

Was against the 4cyl hybrid 250 untill I thought about it for a while.

Bet that 250 can wheel with the best of em, Family haul next to any other SUV… and Do all of that while getting over 20+ mpg after it’s built a little bit.

Oh and not to mention, you can keep your Arb Fridge in the back all the time ready to use.
Sleep while camping with ac or heat…. And make lunch for the kids with a microwave or whatever.

Ya … I’ve been away from IH8mud for a few years, was pondering a 200 yet didn’t want the expensive price tag and mark up of a 90,000 mile used vehicle getting 13mpg

So now I returned because of the 250.

Agreed, The hybrid minivans/crossovers really are that good. Ours can put down 38-40 mpg under ideal conditions and averages dead on the EPA 35 mpg/estimate. 500+ mile range. It can hold 85 mph with the cruise on no problem on Western highways. It already has ~12K on it and we got it in January. It's been all the way down to Florida, then all of the way to Utah and back. Super-quiet. Passing power is good when both electric motors kick in. Today we filled it up from ~1/4 of a tank for $37. The opposite experience of filing up my Lexus where I drop $50-70 every time - it literally uses half the gas.
 
After watching a critique of the 250 I'm back to wondering if this will be worth the money. No E-KDSS or ATRAC. The new 6th gen 4Runner might be a better option.

I’m curious though… will the trd off road new 4runner have a Hybrid system unless you spend 65k

Bare bones basic 250 hybrid with 2400 watt inverter and Roof rack is going to be close to 58k I’m sure.

That’s as high a price as I want to pay with these interest rates.

Good thing they will last 350k miles

I can't imagine the 4R TRD OR will cost more than the base LC250 1958. The 4R will be smaller and I can't see Toyota getting rid of KDSS and ATRAC. We should get an idea what the hybrid option will be for the Off-Road trim once pricing and packages are announced for the Tacoma.

What else?

Is Atrac part of any of that?

I believe only the trail cameras and multi terrain select are not on the 1958 everything else is standard.
