simply based on experience, I'd go 4.88 w/ 33's and 3fe. 5.29 w/ 35+ or if you foresee them soon.

I own a 92 3FE. I am happy with the 5.29s. Had it done last year about this time. I run 35s in summer and 33s in winter. I drive slower in the winter so the 33s dont rap out too bad. Definately impressed with the climbing. As for speed, so so. Still have some tuning up to do too though. Injectors mainly.
