4.56 the right size for 37s on a 60 or will 4.11s from a 62 work?

(sorry for the hijack)

Good to know, just me trying to save some time and money and just swap in 3rds from a 62

Yeah but thats with stock gearing. Stock gearing on a 60 is 3.73 so going to 4.11s is a step in the right direction, just not enough I guess.

pulling 33's. I would only run 488's.

If you never drive on the highway that might work, but that would kill your top speed. 33's and 4.10's or maybe 4.56 if you have a 5 speed.

This is not a guessing game. You can calculate your speed very accurately with any combinations of transmissions, gears, and tires.

4.3 from 4.1 would not be very noticeable. you will need to go 4.56 or 4.88.

I can get 4.3's here but would that be noticeable from 4.1 running 33's?

i have 4.56 on 35's on trail and round town they rule but on the freeway i dont get much over 60 at around 3000 rpm

i think 4.56 and 37's would be quite nice all around tire.

i plan on adding a SBC, nv4500 and eventually a toybox to my truck and goin 37-39's with 4.56 still in difs.

Thats what I run... 4.56s in the diffs with 37s work great on the road and highway. Great on lighter trails as well. (think 4,5,6 in Tellico) But I use lower gear found else where in my drivetrain for anything more.

I had 4.56 and 35s on the highway and it was slllllloooowww

Now if it was a fj62 thats a different store.

We seem to have different opinions here .( pun intended )
some vote for 4,88 and others say 4,56.
Help me calculate please .
Tires : MTZ 33"
Gearbox : H55F
FJ62 with 3F carb .
Car pulled well with 31" tires and gave very good mileage. (4.11:1 diff ratio )
I am now pulling the 33" tires and need to know what diff ratio to move to , to get back my old car . ( struggling a bit now -practically lost my fifth gear , )

I tried some websites to try and calculate but only managed to get myself confused as I got different results .

I tracked down a local FJ62 owner who has 4,88:1 diff ratio and 35" tires . I am going to drop my 33" tyres on his rig this weekend and see what it does. He feels 4,88 will be well suited to the 33" tires .

Anybody that actually run this combo on a FJ62 ??

I drove my Tencha with 33" on 3.70 then 4.11 then 4.56 .. but I'm not a usual HW Cruiserhead, so drive under 120 km/h don't bother me ..

I can say that the better R&P tire combo it's 33" with 4.11 or 35" with 4.56 ( for my aplications ) .. now I'm running 4.56 with 8% low in hi range and it's pretty slow due to the final reduction it's like 4.92 R&P ..

But again .. drive slow it's just fine to me ..

just my .0002 cents ..
