Here is the news from Terry at the USFS.
Hi Everyone – The next work day is April 18th. We’ll continue with installation of guardrail on Daniel, Dickey Bell & a short section of Slab Pile & RML at the bottom of the closure where folks are driving around the existing guardrail.
Also, I’ll have orange diamonds and # decals with me and I’d like one or two small groups that know the trails to mark and sign them so we can have the trail corridors marked better and make sure not to mark the bypasses.
We’ll meet at 9 am at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp. I’ll be working with you on this work day. We’ll need vehicles that can drag guardrail and haul posts and augers, etc. Bring water, food, working gloves and work boots and make sure you’re dressed appropriately. Thanks for helping us out on the trails.

Sorry, I can't make it and my slave has "conference" qualifiers for track and field Saturday.

We have some serious issues up there right now.
People are tearing down the guard rail we have put up on Daniel and Dickey Bell. They are taking chain saws to the new wooden guard rail and taking winches to the metal stuff and ripping it out of the ground. We have lost a lot of forward ground we had made during the off season.

That's terrible. I wondered how people get away with doing this but then I went on the trails at night and realized what goes on during the cover of darkness...
I saw news of this on Facebook this morning. I can't even begin to imagine the guilty party's motivation. The littering and spider trails are bad enough and now this?!?

That is effed.
If we catch these guys on camera, can we prosecute them? What if we put up game cameras in the forest pointed at the rail?
This has to be a federal offense. Similar to messing with a mailbox. We need to film and prosecute to the highest level. Call them out in all social media, tell their employers, parents, preachers and teachers. This is absolutely ridiculous.
does the army need some sniper training???
