Drunk, stoned, or brainless-doesn't matter, these guys need prosecuted/eliminated Or better yet forced to rebuild it with their own hands on a work crew with armed guards watching.
 
We need more law enforcement. Well I've never seen any up there the hand full of times I've been there. @krzyabncanuck do they have a actual law enforcement ranger up there? I'm sure he has 10000 sq miles to cover.
 
Yes they do and yes he does have that many miles to cover. That is our NUMBER 1 issue. We know this and i am going to do my darndest to try and see what we need to do to get more up there.
 
Citizens arrest. Make it self weeding with rewards for information / pictures of the clowns that did this and any other stuff. Post up warning signs. Put wildlife cameras in the trees. Same goes for littering. Best part is you can pretend you are taking action shots of your rig and snap a few of the dumb dumbs. More resources are expensive. Lets get a hotline/email address where we can send pictures, information and then they can make arrests.

I have chatted with Debra and she likes the idea of having a meeting after Janets party this Saturday. If you have hood feasible ideas please come by and let's get the ball rolling toward fixing this stuff some how or some way.

Can a citizens watch be started? I know some towns have volunteers who take reports and what not. Just an idea rattling in my meatball head
 
Folks, you can't fix stupid. Bringing cops or the forestry people into the mix won't fix the problem, it'll just bring bad press. When you put the guardrails back up, pour concrete footings so they can't be pulled out. A trail camera is a good plan - getting some footage and then shaming them on all the boards would probably do the trick.

Or - just create official looking posts on all the local boards stating that trail cameras have already been installed and anyone caught will be fined and their rig impounded as evidence.... None of those things need to be true and it will be a strong detterant. Remember - these are stupid people you're dealing with....
 
Sadly, even concrete footings can't compete with a winch. When someone sets their mind to destruction little can be done to prevent it.

Only with a combination of multi-club communication, diligence, cooperation, and keeping to the moral high road can we hope to push stupid out of the forest.

Please read all my replies over there and the good stuff from over there. I am just too tired right now to post it again over here. I work 2 jobs right now and volunteer in too many places right now, but i am having fun and that is all that matters to me right now. And right now one of my main priorities is URE but it is getting to me also. I am in battle mode right now, but the enemy are too many and i am not being allowed to use the tools of war i want / need to.
 
You hit on it in your last sentence Darin. The people that do this sort of thing no matter their motivation are MOUTH BREATHERS. The only message they understand in most cases is violence toward them personally. You can use reason, education, even fines but it only will get through to a very few and the rest will go on their merry way. Hit them where they live, don't confiscate their rig or 4 wheeler, destroy it in front of them. Obviously this too is outside the law. Sometimes the law just can not get it done...................
 
I rea about welding the rails or nuts, cameras, ec. How about greasing up the back of the rails or the nuts? We probably can't prevent them from actually stealing them, but maybe make it diificult or upleasant. Someone gets injured stealing the rails they probably sue the NPS too, so no gem blades or concertina wires. But axle grease.... A bitch to take off your hands.
 
If I had to guess id say someone saw the rail that fell over at the top of Daniel. Thought it was ripped out and told someone, who told someone, who told another and then so on and so on untill it mutated into what was delivered to us.


Glad to hear the only damage is a part that fell over due to not being seated properly
