I have an 82 fj40 with 3.70's and am currently very much wanting to movie down to the old 4.10's b/c i'm running 33's. Could you all please tell me what i would pay for a 4.10 3rd members and what i could get for both of my old 3.70's thanks

cruiserparts.net sells 3rd members w/ 4.10 for 250ea shipped. Not too bad when you consider shipping cost of 35-50 ea. I had a set a while ago for sale and had no takers on them. I think I was asking 400 for the set or something. Ended up just putting them in my truck instead.

As for sell the 3.70, I'd say $100 ea or so, if you can find someone who wants to gear up.

damn...I should have asked more then...sold one of mine a few months ago for $50, and the spiders were welded already....

course, the truck it came out of only ran me $75, so still a profit...hehehe

i've got a bunch for sale for $60 in denver. all 4.1 course pinion, fine side gear.

Course spline pinion is usually $50-75. Fine spline pinion is usually $200-250. Fine spline will be stronger and you can re-use your existing driveshafts.

what ratios did they put in the 40's, and durning what years?

Unless your old school like me and still have coarse spline. In which case the prices switch and Randy's sends you the wrong R & P  :D

[/quote]Through 12/78 was 4.11. 1/79 and up FJ40's and all FJ60's were 3.70. FJ62's went back to 4.11. 78 FJ40's and all FJ62's were fine spline pinions. I don't know the month in 78 those started.

There were supposedly optional ratios in very early FJ40's, but all of the US spec 40's I've ever heard of were 4.11 (thru 12/78).
