I know the FSM states to set the valve lash while the engine is hot. But does anyone know what the valve lash should be cold?
I am having my fuel injectors cleaned and have some down time waiting on them to return. Obviously I can't run the engine and I would like to set the valves while I wait.

Any suggestions?

BTW, this is on an 80 series. I hope you don't mind me stepping over here to 60 forum.

Set them to the cold spec. Warm up the engine and check them. They will only change a little, if any.

That is what I did on my 3FE 80 a few times. a tight 8 and a tight 14 worked fine. IIRC

Pappy- there is no cold spec. for a 3FE (that I know of)
Phadreus- Thanks, exactly what I was looking for.

Sorry, my bad. At last Jim knew what I was trying to say. Set it to the hot spec with the engine cold. Warm the engine up, and I bet they will only be a little off, if any.
