The idea here is to clear 39" x 13.5" BFG Projects on 17" x 8.5" wheels with 4 3/4 backspacing with as much trimming and as little lift and stop extention as possible. As of now it sits on 850's up front and 860's on the rear.

Threw them on last night to get an idea of where to start. I plan to maintain some type of inner fender well and keep the metal work as pretty as possible. It looks like lengthening the rear control arms is a must.

This is going to be a slow project and won't really get started until next week. I'll post work as it happens.

Remember that when you stuff the rear tire it will push the tire towards the rear of the well
So I would stuff the tires to see where you stand
It is pretty easy to trim in the rear

Too big IMO.

It could be argued they are too big. I was looking for 37's when I found these. The price was too good to pass up and I had the wheels left over from an older project. It will make an interesting project anyway.

Why such a small tire? Too small IMO.

Why not?!! :) Subscribed....

Bigger isnt always better when it comes to tires.

You have no up travel in your suspension with a tire/lift combo like this. Unless you have the gearing, suspension, room, and HP to run a tire like this, its a waist of time.

Throwing the biggest tire possible under a truck is a good way to make it worthless on the trail.

I have 315's on my truck, and 7100 12" Short bodies for shocks.

Picture a 40" tire on my truck in this situation.... Not a pretty sight I bet. 35-37" tire with the correct amount of lift makes these trucks capable as all hell off road.

40's with barely a lift, not even close...

Different strokes for different folks, big tires not a lot of lift work great for the Iceland guys, your 35's and flex wouldn't do much there. I don't know what the OP intended use is, but the best part about mud is seeing everyone's ideas! Keep the pics coming! I am very interested to see how this transpires.

If you are willing to lose some metal to make them fit, you can make them fit. They are only too big if you want to flex it at all, and keep your panels intact. Couple guys running 35's on stock suspension with minimal problems, I think this falls into a similar category as far as clearance goes.

haters gonna hate.

I love low slung trucks with big tires. I'm keeping an eye on this one. My guess is you're gonna need a wee bit more lift, and a lot of trimming. But it will be coolness squared when you get it working right.

As for too big, that's what she said.
