Anyone running 35's on the Ironman lift with regular length shackles?? Was going to go with 33's, but just got offered a screaming deal on some 35's. Obviously with the stock gearing it'll be a dog but that's a given. More interested in knowing if they'll be to big for that 2" - 3" lift. Any input greatly appreciated. BTW, bought my 60 about 2 weeks ago and LOVE it:cheers:

35's will not fit with stock shackles. I don't think they will fit even with extended shackles. I have 31's, when I really flex/turn it the fronts rub a little.

Won't fit. Get soem extended shackles and/or a BL and they will fit. You need 4" minimum, depending on BS and rim width.

Do you have stock rims? (My 33's rub with my 4" Alcan lift when i offroad. (8.5 wide rim with 3.25 BS.

get the tires...

know a couple people who have run 35's on 60/62's with standard spring under lifts...

sure it won't be all kosher right off the bat and you'll need to do some trimming/bumpstop/body lift mods in order to get things in perfect order, but 35's with some gearing will put you light years ahead of 33's with no gearing.

it'll give you a little bit of extra room but probably not enough. I run the safari springs which are 3" springs with the reverse shackle and I have some rub with my 35X12.5s at full flex....

Hey Broken parts, that's weird I had slight rub issues at the front of fenderwells, did I miss that you are SR? Anyways, 35s will fit with a 2.5" ome and stock length shackles, but with slight rubbing on front of front fender and rubbing on inner rear fenderwells (not bad, no sharp edges, just polished metal). At least they did on my 62, but then again, every cruiser is slightly different. I'd go with the screaming deal and make em work i.e. small amount of trimming or wheel spacers (rear) or small (1') body lift or extended shackles or all of the above. 35s are nice on a 60/62

BParts sorry I just read your sig line, you are SR, that explains it.

yep, SR. I'm working on getting my 36 IROCs under there. I got a aal kit here and 1 inch body lift that I've been meaning to get on forever. I figure with those and a little tirmming I shouldnt have a problem running the 36X13.5s under there... the 36s fit under there as long as I dont flex it too much as it sits now.

BP, nice the body lift should help alot. When I had my 35s, they showed up before my lift, so I couldn't resist mounting them and putting them on. Drove around for three weeks with 35's and stock suspension, just couldn't corner to hard, hehehe.

Shackle reversal.

Broken parts - what length shackles do you have and where? not familiar with SR... and you will need a longer shackle in the rear to counter the extra 1.5" in the front right? do you run a stock length shackle on the SR at the back? ...

thnx!

rob

yes, you do need a longer shackle in back but I dont recall how long they are. I'll go through the receipts or measure today at lunch.

BP - thanks! those look pretty stock'ish length on the back of your SR.

for your SR - did you need any shims and how much if needed? track straight?

anyone know how it would mess with driveline geometry if you put a slightly longer shackle on back of shackle reversal? Just trying to think of a way to fit a 35 comfortably...

great info - thanks guys!

Search on tons of this stuff. For advice without searching: stick with a kit SR unless you knows tons about suspension, steering, etc. From what I know you cannot add a longer shackle on the rear for the front.

Rear shackles will have to be longer to compensate. (MAF SR kit gives about 1.5" of lift.) Welding is involved in this, and there are benefits and negatives with a SR. Again search on the topic b/f u think this will solve your problem.
- I stayed away from a SR b/c I read several things about it working better SOA. Which I was not doing.

I would suggest searching on BL's. It is a great way to get a little extra out of a lift to fit tires. (If you do it correctly and conservatively. Less than 2") It also helps keep your center of gravity lower.

Hope this helps you out some. Always remember that not every 60 or 62 is the same. They are all a little different. Especially when it comes to what tires fit with what lift, shackles, rims, and even brand of tires.

And remember no matter what u will need to regear unless u live where its really flat. My 33's in the 62 drive me nuts anytime I hit a hill.
