So as my other posts have said I am putting a 350 in my 76 40. I am at the point in my collecting of parts to find a set of headers for the project.
I have been reading and lots are using the Ram horns. I don't want to do this. I want a set of headmen headers for the better flow. What i need to know is can I use normal headers or for I need the block huggers or sorties?

Thanks for all your help guys.

Block hugggers seem to be the best option for headers. AA used to make headers that went out through the inner fenders... They were prone to rotting out, and weren't very popular.

I've been happy with with Ram Horns for 18 years now... They're now 44 years old and still going strong. It's not a race car, so I don't see why you need better flow.

Block huggers would not clear the steering box in my 67.

Ram horns gave me just enough room to clear the box.

these would be a great option also but pricey

Those are real pretty.

Those sanderson headers above are about 400 dollars, but they are the only option I could get to work on my sbc conversion. That 400 seemed expensive, but it would have been cheaper if I didn't have to buy two sets to try before I found one that worked. Having to eat the cost of one set of ramshorns and the $45 dollars shipping on the other set, I wish I had just bought them right off. Also, the extra month of build time it took trying to mess with all these options. Something to think about. I am about to try firing mine up in about a week and will report back in my build thread how I like them.

I have ram horns on mine, but I bought these to replace them. I decided to just sandblast and repaint the ram horns. Check out the pic below, I believe they're "Hugger Headers". Check Ebay, they're reasonably priced. Came with all new gaskets and hardware too.

Better idea, not block huggers, use Sanderson "Ultra Block Huggers", they do not stick out away from the engine as far as normal block huggers!!!!
