My story

I tried to figure out how to add my text after adding the pic but didn't have a clue. (above)

I've been reading all the posts on tires and lift and all that jazz and finally decided to just go try some tires on. I was eye-balling the TSL radial 33x10.5, but when I actually looked at them in person, it was obvious to me that the TSL is a fairly narrow design anyway. I had BFG A/T 32.11.50 prior to this and these TSL's (33x12.5) are not any wider that I can tell. As for the suspension, all I've done is 2.5" shackles. I guess my leafs are still in decent shape. I went straight to the trail from the tire shop, and had no rubbing problems to speak of.

Just another option worth exploring. As for the stock rim width, I don't think it is a prob as I used to run some BFG M/T 35x12.5 on my stock 7" 4runner wheels. That was on a SAS setup with with TRD e-lock F/R. Old site http://www.cardomain.com/id/akarilo

New ride is an `88 FJ62 with a lunchbox in the back. I've vowed to not go crazy on this one. Yeah Right!

Did you put the 2.5 shackles on the front too? How is the ride on the road?

looks good!! i'm just about to mount the same tires (33x12.5) with just 2.5" shackles, as well. it looks like i should have just about the same clearance as you have. seems like our stock springs have held up rather well. here's a pic from when i was gauging how well things were going to fit.

Shackles

As for the shackles, both front and rear are 2.5 longer than stock. The truck ended up really level. I've noticed the factory suspension has very little up-travel under full compression, which enables you to run the overall height of the vehicle pretty low relative to tire size.

I suggest to all who are struggling with what tire size to go with, to check out the TSL 33x12.50. It is a suprisingly good fit. I was also pleasantly suprised with the low road noise and smooth ride on pavement.
