Hi everyone
I am in the process of changing tire sizes again.
Before I had 285/70 r17s and I didn't have to make major changes, but I wasn't satisfied.
I wanted to try to fit 305/70 r17s with et40 rims but I couldn't find any discussions...
My LC200 has KDSS, will I need to make any changes? Do they protrude from the vehicle?
I found discussions for the 315/70 r17 and it seems there are too many modifications to be made such as grinding the frame etc. and then I think they stick out a lot.

Thank you all.

do you have KDSS AND AHC? not familiar with the European offerings, but I thought it was one or the other.
That tire size should be almost the exact size as a 305/65R18, which there are a number of members here running with both AHC (US spec LXs) or KDSS (US Spec LCs). Here's a thread about that size. Most users are using a slightly higher offset wheel, but the 40mm offset should be ok too. 305/65/18s on +20mm Success!!! - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/305-65-18s-on-20mm-success.1086312/
Since there are folks clearing 285/70R18s on stock wheels (60mm offset), your 40mm offset should be fine for 305s, since the center of the tire will be 20mm farther out and you'll only have an additional 20mm of tire width, leaving the inside of the tire 10mm farther from the control arms and suspension components than a 285.

At worst I bet you will have to do some minor plastic modifications or trim the mud flaps.

Good luck!

No, the Full version has both KDSS and AHC which I would never want to remove because it is very convenient!!!
Yes, in theory the diameter is practically identical between the two..
Cutting the plastic doesn't bother me, it's the kdss lever and the frame that I wouldn't want to touch.
Thanks, now I will take courage and order them.
Thanks again

Here's a good read on what was needed to make the 305 fit.

Looks like he ended up changing tire sizes later on. Not sure why though. I stumbled across his 305s for sale in the classifieds.

Ah.. so sorry, I didn't understand, shortly afterwards there was an announcement of your 305 for sale?
Yes, however, I didn't understand what rim offset it had but they are too protruding, in Italy the police would stop me immediately

I was quite determined for that one because when buying it seems there is more choice

I have not run this 305 size. That link is to another mud member who did. He ran the 305 for around 1500 miles then Changed sizes and posted them for sale. I really like this size too but ended up going with the narrower Lt285/75r17. Same height but narrower which makes for a much easier fit with KDSS.

His Rock Warrior Wheels have a 50mm offset plus the 1.25 inch wheel spacers. Which results in roughly a 20mm offset .

I don't think Toyota ever fit AHC and KDSS on the same vehicle. Would love to see pictures if that's wrong.

ET40 offset wheels is the best case scenario for fitting taller and wider tires and not having the wheels protrude the fenders. Most people say that a 285-295 tire on a ET25 wheel is what sits about flush with the fenders. Based on that, a 305 on a ET40 should be just inside that. As long as you only have AHC and no KDSS, you can fit a 285/75R17 on ET50 with no spacers, so 305/70R17 on a ET40 should clear the UCA.

You most likely will still need to do some work with the fender liners. 285/70R17 is the biggest tire you can fit before you start rubbing on the fender liner. Any bigger than that and you will have to account for rubbing. Good news is a 305/70R17 should fit in the spare location fine and you shouldn't need to cut the body mount aft of the front wheels.

Sounds like you have AHC suspension within your LC (equivalent to LX570s in the US). This can be confirmed if you have height and damping controls on the console. Technically it does have the same cross linking technology as KDSS within the AHC system, but the point is you don't have KDSS that is implemented as part of the sway bar that can be a constraint to larger tires.

I highly encourage you to do 305/70R17 that spec at 33.8" x 12". Easily doable with the right fitment, and with +40 offset, you would be on a great path. It should readily drop in with some mild plastic massaging, alignment with more caster to bring the tire away from the body mount.

There are a few threads you can reference that have very similar overall tire dimensions. Namely 295/70R18 - 34.3" x 11.6"

Honestly, I think rigs with KDSS can easily fit this size tire too. Many IMO falsely arrive at this conclusion because using +25 offset in the recipe creates more clearance issues than it solves.

here... you have opened my eyes!! I was convinced I also had the KDSS since the car didn't lean in the slightest... I took it for granted. Yesterday I wanted to take photos and I noticed it!!
