Marvin,

Wondering if I can get some measurements on 1 of the bolts on the rear spare tire carrier mount on the lpb?

Pics pretty much explain it all.

Thanks, Matt

Matt,

I would call the measurement from the inside frame edge to center of hole 1 5/8" and the other measurement 5/8". Here are a couple of pics of how I measured.

Best regards,
Marvin

Got about 1.5 hours on the lpb tonight. Not a lot done, but the local hockey team which is ranked #1 in the state of Minnesota and the #2 ranked team were playing tonight. Not a huge hockey fan, but the wife wanted to go so did that for a few hours tonight.......packed

When I got home Marvin had gotten me a couple measurements, just what I needed...thank Marvin  1 side of the spare tire carrier mount was totally rotted off, the other side was still intact, but it had perforated in a few spots. I was initally thinking of fixing the one and making the other one, but I decided to just make them both. I used a jig saw and cut them both off right in the corner of them, cleaned them up with the zip wheel. I used the one side that was still mostly there to trace out 2 of them on some 2" x 1/8" flat stock. Drilled the holes first and then cut them out in the band saw. After they were cut out I bolted them together and ground the edge's to make sure they were both exactly the same.

Using the measurements I got I marked the first hole and then used the piece I cut off to lay it on top and mark the other hole. I then tack welded both of the pieces I made onto the spare tire carrier mount. I test fit them to make sure everything lined up and fit....which it did perfect, then I poured the coals to it. I used the zip wheel and ground my weld down on the ends to make it look like it never happened. Bolted everything back up to make sure it fit, few pics of that action.

Probably sandblast that mount again and epoxy prime it again so I can go right to paint, along with a few other parts this weekend. Not exactly sure what I am going to do this weekend. All my other parts are gone at the acid guy's place. I have a few other parts I could blast and paint, but not enough to keep my busy all weekend.......

Got an extremely lazy 2 hours on the lpb tonight.

Not much at all done, nothing really to even take pics of. Spent most of the evening cleaning up weatherstripping. The stuff between the cab, hardtop and cab and windshield...few other misc. pieces. Rounded up a few parts that need to be sandblasted, probably do that this weekend during the daylight. Also took a look at that big Warn winch that was on the front, trying to get a mental game plan on how I am going to fab up a bumper and mount that winch.

Also tossed my tool bag in the washer and then dried it, cleaned up pretty good....took a few pics of that. Even turned around those brackets, wanted to let you know I did that Shane ;p

Matt

Either, I know sanding is a tedious process.

I spoke with my shrink about the SS hardware and I over came my issues...........................

Got about 8 hours on the lpb today, but you'd never know it.

Only got 1 pic today, sorry about that.....just a bunch of little stuff that didn't amount to much. The majority of it was spent sandblasting, blasted the headache rack along with a bunch of other parts. Some of the parts need to be olive green (the ones in the pic), some other need to be black which should be in a day or so.

I got some stuff hung up in the booth and shot a coat of DP on everything. The headache rack had a couple little deep scratches in the metal, so I shot a couple coats of ureathane primer on the scratches. Have to let those dry and sand out....hoping to shoot some base/clear on those parts tomorrow.

Got about 4 hours on the lpb today, although it still doesn't look like much.

Had to sand out a little ureathane primer this morning and then I shot a light coat of epoxy over the top of what I sanded. The epoxy had to dry at least an hour, then I started shooting base. After a couple coats of base, waited another half hour and shot 2 coats of DCU2021. I think it turned out pretty nice...even the bottom of the running boards ;)

I got board because I don't have a lot to do right now so I went over to my neighbors house and bothered him for a couple hours. Took a few pics of his 40 ford project.....and also the Toyota FJ40 parking brake lever he's going to use......I love it:D

Hoping to fill the booth up again tomorrow night, shoot a bunch a parts that need to be black. Might even start getting a few of the parts back from the acid guy this week....
