I dipped my whole truck and really like the way it works. I had to buy a special nozzle to spray DP90 way up into the cavities though. I went back with a wax filling after that just to make sure that all surfaces were covered. I would highly recommend doing this after you have the truck dipped. It does get everything that is not metal. My guys spray a protective coating on the bare metal that you need to make sure is ALL off before primering. I usually will put my parts in prime right out of the tank after a good rinsing and drying. $90 sounds about right for a hood. My whole truck dipped and primered was $1500.

Awsome thread, I enjoyed reading it. Keep up the great work.

Hey Matt-

I hope the guy is 2 hours south... :-) what business is it... I am interested to see how it turns out...

Actually 2 hours west...Grand forks, ND. I know there is place down in Minneapolis, that would be closer to you Aaron.

Gary,

That just looks like it works slick! I think the operation I am taking my stuff to isn't set up quite as nice as the equipment in the pics you posted. But, I think the end result is the same.....dipped, no rust or paint left on the thing.

Talk to the guy yesterday, said he was running about 2 weeks behind. Told me to give him a call in about a week to see where he was at. 2 weeks is about all I will be able to handle, I should need more parts by then.

Thanks, Matt

Got about an hour last night (Friday) and about 4 hours tonight.

Friday night I did a little sanding and ran a couple beads of seam sealer on the back side of the bib. I shot a coat of epoxy primer last night and wanted to give it over night to dry.

Tonight I got home after work and wet sanded out the front of the bib and windshield frame. When I was done wet sanding and wiped everything down, let it dry for a half hour or so and shot 1 very light coat of DP. I let that sit for an hour, shot 2 coats of MBC base...let that sit for 20 minutes and then 2 coats of DCU2021. Few pics of the final product.

Have to work again tomorrow, but planning on hanging a few parts tomorrow night that have to be painted black and get those done. Hoping to start bolting the bib, windshield frame and aprons on next week and get basiclly the front clip done...except for the hood.

Looks great as usual. A question about your heaters you used in you spray booth. I know they are 8' long. Where did yo get them, what is the wattage, how did you wire them with the thermostat on the outside, etc. I should have the spray booth ready to wire this week so I need to order some heat. Thanks for the help. Mark

Yea your right....I'll fix it in 20 to 30 years when I re-build it again. :D

Remember....I don't abuse my stuff, but I do drive it.....Lets not get to carried away ;)

In a few days you'll forget all about it when it's bolt on :flipoff2:

About 3 hours on the lpb tonight.

Hung up a couple parts I need to get black, one being the grill. Shot a coat of DP and a couple of single stage ureathane. Need that grill before I can install the front bib, should be dry tomorrow so I think it will be going on.

I blocked out the front bib and windshield frame with 1500 grit and then buffed it out with the buffing wheel, sorry no pics of the actual buffing. I cleaned out all the threaded inserts with a tap in the cordless drill in the aprons, windshield frame and bib. Got the wife out and she gave me a hand getting the windshield frame back on, also installed the side aprons.....few pics of the windshield frame and aprons back on.

Hope to get the grill/emblems back on the bib tomorrow night and then bolt that up....I don't think it will be coming back off. Probably also start installing parts back in the windshield frame, wiper assembly, etc.....

Not really sure where the rest of the week is going to take me...probably get that valance welded onto the box. Then probably start stripping down the doors and hardtop, get those ready for the acid guy.
