Okay, I called a guy I know at the dealership and he looked it up for me. In the USA, the Tundra did not have a factory starter interruptor (immobiliser) system until at least 2006. However, the Sequoia did have immobiliser available much sooner, as early as 2003. Is it possible you have a Sequoia ECU? Could you post up what the ECU part number is? We can look it up on http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/ if we have the VIN or Model Number (example: UCK31L-PRSLKA).

It's still possible you are dealing with another issue here. If so, could you describe the symptoms and we can recommend some things to check?

The picture you posted in Chat shows a non-immobiliser key. It's bare metal, no rubber/plastic to house a "chip."

You should not need to worry about this system getting in the way of starting the truck. What is happening when you try to start it with the 2003 ECU connected, or do you not have this ECU?

It will be hard to look up the correct part # without knowing the model number, there are 53 different model numbers for the Tundra.

parts computer is showing a bunch of ecus for 03, but no notes about transponder (immobiliser) or non....
As stated above though, that metal key isn't a transponder key....

Yes I have the 2003 ECU and now ( in the way to me ) the 2004 ECU with the DBW pedal sensor and the steering colum from a 2004 ..

I didn't try to start the engine with the 2003 ECU .. just gonna wait for the steering column with the harnnes with the idea to make all easy and don't messing with multi cables ..

53 !!!!!

I have also the VIN for the 2004 tundra ..

today I get all stuff the complete under dash harness the key and cilinder along with the ECU and DBW gas pedal .. so wish me luck .. I will start printing all stuff that I have of the 2UZ wirring driagrams .. and let's start the fun .. I will be reporting here ..

Or in my other thread ..
