Swinging from a vine.
Up on the 60 Series list, we were having a discussion about Plug and Play options to replace the Vacuum Solenoids that engage the 4wd on FJ62 series Land Cruisers without having to pay $400 for the OEM parts. A lot of the more affordable options are either discontinued or require hacking the wiring harness to change the connectors. It came up that one poster has used a solenoid/solenoids from an 1990 4runner that fit the FJ62's connectors without modification. He wasn't quite sure the function that they performed in the 4runner or of a Toyota part #. They are located on the passenger side inner fender. I am hoping that one of you can advise on the function of these solenoids or, even better, a Toyota part #.

Here is the discussion

Here is a thread that shows a picture of what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance for your time.

They are used for porting vacuum to different emission systems. On my 89 (not a 2nd Gen) There are three on the valve cover. Only 2 have part numbers, they are 90910-12084 and 90910-12085. They both seem to have the same connector. Here's a pic of one.

Jared thanks for the assistance. Do those have two vacuum lines coming out of it, like the ones in the thread that I posted?

I have found a picture of a 22RE with the solenoids on the valve cover and wanted to see if the one circled was one of the solenoids that you gave me a part number for. Thank you a ton.

Here's a pic with #'s of all three of mine. The one you posted looks black, which none of mine are, and all my vac lines are messed up by po's.... So I can't tell if it's one that I have or not. All the plugs are the same with only a slightly different raised part so you can't plug in the wrong plug to the wrong vacuum switch. They all have an in and an out for vac lines, and the ports that all point to the right in my pic is for breathers that have all been lost from my truck. That's what the black round part on your pic is.

OEM from the dealer is pretty pricey on those solenoids.... not FJ62 pricey, but pricey still. $86 for the red one, $50 something for the blue one. I just bought the whole assembly off of ebay with the blue and red intact off of a parts truck for $15 plus shipping. Hopefully they work. Thanks again.
