my oil cooler blew and I have a spare 3fe engine...they look similar but does anyone know for sure?

thanks,

anytakers??? if not I might just pull both of them tomorrow...

haha yeah I would agree with you.

But, replace the "O" rings on the block side and the copper washers on the bolt sides.............

the manual does not say but if I pull this thing will it drain all my oil out of it?

silly i was not thinking how much higher it was from the oil pan....lost some oil but not much...

will put it back together tomorrow...

Just curious - How did you know that it "blew"? What was the symptom?

My temp gauge spiked after two miles of driving and I knew somthing was wrong...pulled over poppped the hood and saw steem shooting out from the cooler. Gave it a minute and filled it with water and watched it shoot out from the oil cooler. The cooler had surface rust on it. Turns out that the metal there is not very thick, prob so it cools oil and water faster. I double checked my buddies fj60 and he had rust on his as well.

I pulled both from the 3fe and 2f will see if it bolts up but it looks like they do...will report back later..

For what its worth they are the same....god for future info i guess..

and it worked.

Wow, thanks. They look like a monolithic block was kinda wondering how they could provide any cooling without any external "fins" and not in the cool air flow, but I guess it must have some value.

I wonder if there is a more high-performance oil cooler that could be put in its place?

Im sure there is but...i think it works well. The 2f runs rather cool, just rust got to this one...it was a suprise for me.
