Good to know. Thanks. I probably will not go quite as large as 295/65s, bit was concerned nonetheless about cv leaking.

For clarification, the bigger tire will have 0 effect of the angel of the axel shaft and therefore 0 effect of the cv joint. Lifting the car will cause strain on the cv joint...

They're 32s. They'll fit any 100 - stock.
The 275/70/18s are 1/2" taller, and they fit any 100 - stock

295/65/18 is a 33...not a 32. Both the math and Goodyear's specs put it at 33.1". Math on the 275 puts it ~0.06" taller(that's 6 hundreths)...Goodyear specs it at 0.3" taller.

I agree the 275/70/18 Duratech are a little taller they are 11" wide versus the 295's being 11.8" wide. Also the 275/70/18 are LT rated and about $200 cheaper for a set.

295s are also LT rated...E load range. Have a max load of ~220lbs more per tire versus the 275...

As for fit, you shouldn't have a problem. I have 295/75/16 Toyo AT IIs which should be just as wide and 1/2" taller. The Duratrac has slightly blockier shoulders, which probably explains artworks slight rub at full lock. Zero issues with day to day driving...AHC in N. I can get them rub slightly when in L, so I expect some slight rubbing fully tucked offroad...but feel it will be minimal enough to not worry over...

295/65/18 = 32.6" (not 33.1)
285/70/18 = 33.2"

Yes, we're splitting hairs now. And, since there's no regulation, and since most manufacturers call their 32" tires 33s... Okay, the 285s are 33s.

My point was that LOTS of guys are running the 275/70s on stock trucks, with no issue. So, a shorter tire will less than no issue ;)

I don't understand why someone would want a 65 aspect ratio, unless these are street only trucks. The ability to air down must be non-existent. I would imagine a 70 ratio would be the minimum, preferably a 75+, for off-road use. Maybe I am missing something.

I air down from 36 to 20 PSI every time I go out. No issues so far, but I have to admit... I wish I had more sidewall. When these tires wear out I may go to the Nitto 295/70/18. I know there will be rubbing at that size, but I prefer the larger sidewall and rubbing over a flat tire or a body lift.

Keep in mind that the aspect ratio is a percentage of the section width of the tire. In other words, the wider the tire, the taller the sidewall becomes at the same aspect ratio.

For example, if the tire is a 265-65-18, the sidewall height is .65x265mm = 172.25mm.

In tire size 295-65-18, the sidewall is a little beefier at .65x295mm = 192.75mm.

So by going with a slightly wider tire at the same aspect ratio you gain almost 1" of sidewall height and almost 2" in overall tire height.

Is the spare tire also a 295 Duratrac? Surprised that it fits, my 285 Silent Armor seems like it barely does.

Yes, all 5 of my tires, including the spare are 295/65/18. It fits snug in the stock spare tire location with no issues. However, as I mentioned earlier, I trailer snowmobiles and the tire did not fit in the stock spare tire location with the hitch installed in my stock bumper receiver (not everyone has this - a frame-mount, weight distribution hitch might work just fine). I have a Slee rear bumper now, so I have no issues at all if I store the spare in it's stock location during the winter.

Really like the looks of the 295/65/18's Duratech on your 100. My problem is my Michelins are good for another 30k+ miles and I only drive about 6k miles a year :(

Do you think Discount tire will give me $$$ on my existing Michelins as tradein for the new Duratec's?

Ah, gotcha. I have the frame-mount hitch, and I don't think that a 295 would fit -- but it might.

Just bought one 295/65/18 for a spare and I am running 285/75/16. That tire was almost 400 bones!! Ouch! Bought it from discount tire.
