I cut out all of the plastic but still rubbing on the part shown in the pics (Not sure what's it's called).

Is it a cause for concern or just a nuisance?

Spacers the only fix?

Or different offset wheels. Not sure if KDSS relo would help you. I haven't installed the one I have on the shelf yet. Have to see what happens with my incoming LT285/75R17 A/T KO2s on ET40 rims.

I think the RW is ET50.

I’m about to go to a 285 75 17 on Icon rebounds with a two inch lift. Pretty sure the icons are a 25mm offset. Anyone running a similar set up that can advise about the rubbing issue. Running
34 10.5 17’BFG AT’s now with no running issues. Measurements look like the 285’s are about a 34 11,50.

I've got Rock Warriors currently. I think they are +50 offset.

As said earlier, a lower offset wheel will likely significantly help with this.

If you aren't noticing it when it is happening, I wouldn't worry about it. You might consider 1-1.25" wheel spacers, which will certainly solve this issue.

It doesn't look like enough to worry about but if you want to fix it go with the thinnest bolt on spacer available, 3/4". Be warned that this may just move the rubbing to the area behind the front wheels.

@mcgaskins runs similar tires and wheels setup. I believe he has different tires. There’s a good amount of mudders with that setup.

285/75R17 here

I had this even with +25 offset wheels (equivalent to RW + 1" spacer)

KDSS relo did away with this rubbing for me (and the KDSS arm too). It's <$100 via Trail Tailor

FYI reducing caster on your alignment might do away with the rub but at a cost of handling/road manners.
