I've been looking for a decent rig since the beginning of the year and while I do agree that some of these are overpriced for what they are I do believe some are great values. I dont believe that tacking on retail cost for mods makes your vehicle worth that price, earlier poster mentioned he had 5k in mods but only has sliders, roof rack, wheels and some consumable tires, not sure how much you spent but I wouldnt call that $5k in mods, but it will be worth more than a stock vehicle in some people's eyes, just like a stock truck is worth more. It all depends.
Kwood it took you a while to sell your truck from my recollection it was your second attempt and you ended up listing for $4k less than your first post, not sure what you settled on but my point is that eventually a rig is going to sell. All you need is for someone with the money to see it as their unicorn, thats whether you have a fully built clean rust free rig or a total rust bucket. Someone will likely buy it. But if it sits for a couple months I wouldnt necessarily say it was a good indication of the market. Remember even a broken clock is right twice a day.
On the matter of clean sub 200k 06-07s for $12-$13k cash, they are going to be more on the rare find side. I say this because I might have come across 1 or 2 that I didnt buy because of wrong color, usually they are white or grandpa gold. If they were in abundance a black, silver or galactic gray would have likely popped up and I would have brought it... with cash thats currently sitting in my safe and I assume that if ITsTime is being honest he would have brought one too. Obviously that nots the case.
I've seen a couple for around 12-14k but they had 300 and 260k miles respectively and they were LXs, not Land Cruisers. Up your budget to about 15-17k and your options open up quite a bit but 12k for a 2006? Not really. Not if you're talking maybe 2003-2005 for 12-13k I believe you could find a decent one in that range.
