This is why you wait. Don't buy into the "they are getting harder to find, will be collector car one day" nonsense.

Wasn't there someone here cheerleading the other day for someone selling a white LX with more than double the mileage moaning on and on about how it was worth 25k? Lol

1 owner. 2006. 41k miles. Just a few oil changes. JTJHT00W064018690

Here's a 90k miles 1-owner Texas '07 that was just listed for $23,900, with all of its maintenance done at the listing dealership:

I have purchased from this dealership before and they are a good one. No complaints from me at all regarding the process or the vehicle that I bought from them. If they have it on their lot then you can be assured that it’s a good one.

I do notice that the one you posted has a “minor accident” on file which will bring the value down a bit.

either way- I’d be willing to bet that it will be sold very soon (if not already) and some will still gripe that it’s OVERPRICED!

Not overpriced, but only in context.

23k is 200 money. The only way he'll get 23k is by shipping it to the middle east. Or Juarez.

Here in the US that will probably sell for cirque de 17.5

Where are you getting this data from? That truck is well worth 20+, i think you need to start looking at Ford Explorers or Jeep Liberty if 12-13K is all you want to spend.

Nobody is moving anything. 12k cash is a lot of money, and people who have nearly 2 decade old SUVs are happy to part with them for that.

The dynamic of what can be had for the money is variable. Nothing I have said is not true. I check 20 different classified sites twice a day. I know the market.

The Lexus at the north side Lexus dealership that was just posted will sell for close to their asking price by the end of the month. It will not be shipped out of country either. I can almost guarantee both of those statements.

You do not know the market as well as you think you do. That much is clear.

once again, show us a rust free “great example” 06-07 with less than 200k miles for $12-13k. If you do happen to find it then it is (once again) considered an outlier and will be sold within a few hours. Not the market.

Do you think you are the only one who had to set up search alerts on multiple sites for multiple months in order to find the right truck? The difference is that there are people (like myself) who have actually bought and sold them. You don’t know anything until you actually trade them.

lastly: $12k is “a lot of money”? I’ve decided that you might not be a troll but you are definitely young and have a lot to learn.

No, it won't. I have already established this.

I do know it. A lot better than you do.

To find these examples, all you have to do is look at the classified sites. It's a fact. I'm not going to copy and paste all of them for you to make up some excuse. You can look for yourself.

I don't have alerts, I search manually. Another reason why I know the market better than you do.

I have bought and sold them more than you have. I have forgotten more about vehicles and bikes than you'll ever know. Get over it.

12k is a lot of money in one chunk, being that its of much better utility invested, instead of spending it on such an essentially unnecessary and poor of an investment as a almost 2 decade old luxury SUV.

12k is a lot of money in one chunk for people who have an old Toyota sitting in their driveway whose equity cannot be extracted for groceries, the mortgage and college tuition.

You're dismissed.

“I have bought and sold more than you have”.

that’s a bold claim to make without knowing who you are talking to unless you are a dealer. Google my username. I’m confident in my knowledge of car markets and in my career i am a fixed income PM/Trader. My job is to literally know markets and my attitude towards car searches is no different.

Dismissed? GTFO.

This has become laughable and I’m embarrassed to admit that I have participated in this discussion.

I have much greater confidence that you could find and pay $12-13 for an 06-07 with less than 200k miles if you are very patient and offering cash.

It's the claim that he sees them around 100k in mileage listed (not sold) for $12-13k "all the time" that I find curious.

Now that he's shifted the goalposts to under 200k and bought in cash for $12-13k, I sincerely doubt he will ever back up his original claim. But, that's enough for me.

Again, best of luck in your search.

I have already backed up my claims.

Never said listed. My point exactly.

Both statements are true and not mutually exclusive.

Some actual advice: set up nationwide search alerts for Craigslist and all of the big websites. The only manual search that you should be doing is on Facebook marketplace as there is not a system out yet that allows for that capability (as far as i know). It will make your search quicker, more efficient, and allow you to be the first one to call a newly listed truck.

I've been looking for a decent rig since the beginning of the year and while I do agree that some of these are overpriced for what they are I do believe some are great values. I dont believe that tacking on retail cost for mods makes your vehicle worth that price, earlier poster mentioned he had 5k in mods but only has sliders, roof rack, wheels and some consumable tires, not sure how much you spent but I wouldnt call that $5k in mods, but it will be worth more than a stock vehicle in some people's eyes, just like a stock truck is worth more. It all depends.

Kwood it took you a while to sell your truck from my recollection it was your second attempt and you ended up listing for $4k less than your first post, not sure what you settled on but my point is that eventually a rig is going to sell. All you need is for someone with the money to see it as their unicorn, thats whether you have a fully built clean rust free rig or a total rust bucket. Someone will likely buy it. But if it sits for a couple months I wouldnt necessarily say it was a good indication of the market. Remember even a broken clock is right twice a day.

On the matter of clean sub 200k 06-07s for $12-$13k cash, they are going to be more on the rare find side. I say this because I might have come across 1 or 2 that I didnt buy because of wrong color, usually they are white or grandpa gold. If they were in abundance a black, silver or galactic gray would have likely popped up and I would have brought it... with cash thats currently sitting in my safe and I assume that if ITsTime is being honest he would have brought one too. Obviously that nots the case.

I've seen a couple for around 12-14k but they had 300 and 260k miles respectively and they were LXs, not Land Cruisers. Up your budget to about 15-17k and your options open up quite a bit but 12k for a 2006? Not really. Not if you're talking maybe 2003-2005 for 12-13k I believe you could find a decent one in that range.

I initially listed my truck as a feeler and definitely admit that is was priced high as I was not as interested in selling at the time. The thread was bombarded so I deleted it.

I later became more serious about selling. I listed my truck again on January 9th with a more realistic price and it sold January 23rd.

I don’t believe 14 days is that long. probably close to average if not less than average. I do agree with the overall point of your statement though

Yeah I think your level of modification and of course the effect that had on your price contributed to the longer time to sell. The more heavier modded rigs do tend to take a little longer but I've seen some lightly modded ones go in a weeks time but they are priced closer to the 10k mark.

While I dont agree with a lot of what Its Time said I do agree that when you're talking $20k+ you will be sharing buyers with the 200 series. Again you have to find that buyer that has that kinda of money and wants to buy a modded out 100 series vs buying a stock 200 series.

I'm scared to post mine up for sale on Mud, it's a 2007 with 200K miles i want $20,000 for it.

Same reason I won't post mine up on Mud. Who needs a bunch of posts saying you're asking too much and no one is going to buy it at that price? It scares off anyone who might be interested.

The Texas Lexus down in Houston is what 24,500? would you pay 20k? If so, then $4500 is nothing after 5 years. These trucks are not going to get any cheaper unless they’re crap. I think most on here are just not really interested in buying.

You thinking about selling Otter?

Thats a good way to put. For me personally I'm looking for a toy just something to go wheeling in. That said though I'm spoiled when it comes to cars so I'm having a hard time getting an earlier year 100 vs something a little newer even though its outside my budget.

This thread has been very entertaining for me as well as others it appears. I planned to sell my 100 in December when I was back in Colorado where it lives. I forgot how much really like the 100 and don’t know if I want to use my 200 to replace the 100. I’m really enjoying driving and ‘tinkering’ with the 200 while I have it in FL. Point being, when I list my 100 this summer, I’ve got a price point where I’d rather just keep it than sell it. I spent a lot of time finding the ‘right one’, modding it the way I wanted, and keeping it dialed in. I think there are a lot of sellers on Mud who feel the same way. Tire kickers will always be there and we’ll just have to deal with them. True Cruiser Heads know what they’re looking at when looking in the classifieds here.
