I just saw info about a protest on Monday about NM public lands…
I’m only Sharing what I saw and curious if they go together…

HERE ARE THE DETAILS:
Mark your calendars! Please join us for a critical rally on Monday, June 23, to show our love and support for New Mexico's public lands and national monuments.

This is our moment. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum will be in Santa Fe on June 23rd, speaking at the Western Governors Association meeting alongside 3 other cabinet secretaries and several governors. We must seize this opportunity to make our voices heard on the future of our cherished public lands! We need to turn out a HUGE crowd.

Rally Details:
Date: Monday, June 23, beginning at 3:30 pm
Meeting Point: De Vargas Park (a few blocks from the El Dorado Hotel)
What: Peaceful rally and march to the El Dorado Hotel (WGA meeting location)

Our message: New Mexicans love our public lands, and we want to keep public lands in public hands!

We need you there: Plan to bring friends, family, and anyone who cares about our public lands. Come with signs supporting public lands and national monuments.

As New Mexicans, we love our public lands and believe they belong in public hands. Our shared love for these special places unites us. Let's come together to make sure these leaders hear that message loud and clear!

Please mark your calendars and be ready to stand up for our public lands!

We don't need to be another Texas. Public lands are a huge part of the western heritage.

I was in a Santa Fe gun shop the other day and over heard an employee behind the counter talking with a couple of customers from Texas. He was going on about the coming civil war and how he wished New Mexico politics was more like Texas. To which they replied how much they like coming to New Mexico because of all the public land. The shop guy expressed surprise that Texas has virtually none.

Just ran into this and thought I should follow up to my initial post. So easy to go down rabbit holes chasing confirmation bias...

Thank you for this clarification. Be careful where you get your information in this world of Social Media. I support having Public Lands that are open to all people, for camping, hiking, biking , back road boondocking, motorcycling, horse back riding, fishing, and hunting, etc.
I don't want all our public lands sold off to private parties, either. But,
I would say watch out for information coming from The Wilderness Society about this topic. Not completely fact based.
I support having our Wilderness areas where there are restrictions on mechanized equipment, aka vehicles, bikes and chainsaws, etc. These are designated by Congress.

On the other side of the coin, Wilderness Study areas close off public lands with no congressional approval. Only open to hiking and horse back riding. Much like loosing public lands to a private owner, IMHO.
Keep Public Lands Open to the Public!!

The fed govt doesn't own the public lands, WE do. They're simply the managers of these lands, from what I understand.

I'm wondering if you could get a smokin' deal if you bought the whole 250 million acres...
