Totally disagree. Due to sold numbers alone the 200 will stay up there and has potential long term collectors value like the 80.

Also most buyers, in the US at least, do not like small I-4 turbos or hybrid technology.

How is $60 to $70k on a used LC200 more than the new one at say 5 to15k marked up MSRP, as stated above?

Once you chose the higher end model with desirable features, you could be over $80k and now Toyota is selling you a Prado for Land Cruiser 200/300 pricing. I guess good for profits and Toyota stock...

I think those dealer markups will yield to MSRP once the new 4runner hits showrooms, if not sooner. I expect that'll push 200s into the $40s or low or mid $50s for the best examples.

I don't see a turbo / hybrid phobia; US consumers are buying more of both than ever; it's modern power. And, I just don't see the 200 holding collector status anything like the 80, which with its coils atop rigid axles and three locking differentials was truly unique in the mechanical linage of US market Land Cruisers.

What I do see is Toyota having hoodwinked 200 buyers, and especially "heritage edition" buyers, who paid dearly for a presumably final US offering of the legendary badge only to relaunch that badge a few years later.

And I see that fact (and understandable hurt) clouding clear thinking about how the new better Land Cruiser (as will be perceived by most consumers) will sharply erode the value of the old used Land Cruiser that it replaces.

Im seeing lots of 2016s from $42-48k. 2019s-$60k and NOT selling. Anything 2013-15 are already in the $30s.

No one in their right mind now is going to pony up $50k for a 200 no matter the year UNTIL the similarly priced 250 is out and real world mpg is reported pushing 33s.

Yeah, it seems like it's already happening (but I don't watch this stuff that closely).

On Autotrader nationwide (i know this is not the full count of 2016's for sale, however consider it indicative) there are a whooping 21 2016 LC200's for sale ranging from $39.5k at 144k miles and with a reported accident to $68k and 26k miles with no reported accident.

I do not consider that lots and many will be good buys compared to the 250, either in LC or GX disguise.

Way I would filter 200's for sale is by;
- Checking for rust and KDSS valve housing status
- Drive making sure it tracks and brakes straight
- Carefully check all body panels and under hood for hidden major repairs
- General internal condition
- Filter on color combinations I would prefer
- Calculate 350k mile minus actual miles divided by purchase price and rank them that way
- Consider how much money I have in the bank or would be willing to lend and cap it to a reasonable max

Enoy buying a new 250 though.

The used 200 cruiser values will probably drop a little bit, but I don’t expect them to fall off a cliff.

Looking at the specs for the 250, this is a 4Runner replacement and not a 200 replacement. The 200 will hold its value due to being a much heavier duty platform with a tried and true V8 which you can’t really buy new off the lot anymore. No manufacture is making cars as stout as the 200 anymore, and with the limited non-rusty examples of 200’s out there dwindling, clean ones will continue to hold their value.

I expect the 250 to drive very similar to the new Tacoma, and it will not have the weight and heft of the 200, which is one of the main reasons why I love driving my 200 LC. If I wanted a light weight BOF rig to run around town, I’d buy a 4Runner, not a Land Cruiser.

The GX 550 is going to probably impact the 200 series values more than the 250, but the people buying the L badge would most likely already have a GX 460/LX 570 instead of a LC 200. Unfortunately, the Lexus badge can carry negative connotations, and that’s why I have never really considered either option from the last gen. And with the 250 being a complete disappointment, I am going to stick with the 200. You get way more value with a 200 compared to the 250.

just an FYI- the 250 is built on the 300 platform which is superior to the 200 platform. So we all might want to wait til its actually out- and see what its all about before calling it a complete disappointment???? And given its coming in $30k cheaper than the 200 out of the box.....if its stiffer/ and 800lbs lighter /8-10mpg better/and drives better and doesnt have valley plate/cam tower/$5500 leaks/pm overhead.- i wouldnt be so quick to judgement until its actually out.

What is with the forum trying to say the 250 is comparable to the 300? Where do you think they cut 800 lbs. of weight while also adding a 200 lb. battery to the package? They cut the weight in the underside components. That’s why this thing can only tow 6,000 lbs lol…

No chance in hell the 250 is more stiff compared to the 200.

Again, if I wanted something for light duty tasks, I would buy a 4Runner, not this abomination and disgrace to the nameplate.

It seems every thread devolves into "just buy a 200". We're in the 250 forum. The 200 has been out for years. If I wanted a 200, I would buy a 200. I'm sure the same goes for most of the others browsing here.
It is relevant though since we don’t have the option to buy a true successor to the LC platform in the States, while the marketing department at Toyota cons people into thinking we do.

It shares components but it is not put together the same. There is a variety of components they can use making it heavier duty or longer as they see fit.

It also is not $30k cheaper, only the basic version with cloth interior. By the time you spec it you are in fact very close to the old 200 pricing.

Exactly and how they now will follow up on the 4Runner is a mystery to me.

I guess they can always label the next RAV4 generation a 4Runner, which is effectively what they did going from the 200 to the 250 in the US.

Sure we do. Go over to the Lexus store and buy yourself an LX 600. Be sure to bring wheelbarrows full of cash.

I already have a 200. I’ll be looking to replace it with a 250 or GX.

The only people who are going to have an opportunity to test drive a 250 in the next 6 plus months are people who committed to purchasing one months in advance.

Everything is pre-sold according to my toyota guy and people who have committed to buy will be permitted to test drive but either you take it or they move on to the next person in line waiting to buy.

You might be surprised at the number of vehicles that are purchased sight unseen
Yes, not driving a 250 first and getting the right vibes would be a show stopper for me.

Interesting how dealers keep up the impression there are no vehicles. I see in the Houston area dealer lots and rear parking space full of new vehicles.

Do not buy first model year anyways.

You beat me to it. I need to go and test drive one. See what's up. I have read a few comments from the MUD owners and want so see for myself. I see vendors coming with front bumper, and looks very promising. Stupid enough, the only but that I have so far from what I have read is the space inside 🤔.

Btw, went and test drove the Denfender... Not bad at all inline 6 engine. Reminded me of my E46 M3's. Ok, now I am going to put the flames suit... 🔥 😂..

The only bumper I've seen is the one from Dissent, which does nothing to get rid of that hideous spindle grille. Even if I wanted to spend that much money, I just hate the way the thing looks and I don't want a third row.
