That shady dealer…the “smart price” after a 20k markup LOL

As much as I would have liked to see us get the Toyota version of the 300 I can tell you with the utmost certainty that some folks would still crap on it. “No V8, no hydraulic power steering, no split tail gate, nOt A rEaL LC”

Let’s see… US spec 200 Series was only offered in the top of line trim which was around $85-$90k MSRP. Adjusted for inflation today that would be around $100-$105k.

New US spec 250 Series is being offered in 2 trims (3 to start but the First Edition is a limited, one time run I’d imagine). So 1958 base model - $58k followed by the nicer, more equipped Land Cruiser trim at $65k. Throw a few additional options on either of those, plus delivery and it’s probably closer to low 60’s for the base and high 60’s for the next step up. The First Edition is coming in with all the bells and whistles at $75k which is admittedly a bit steep IMO but it is a limited, “special edition” so I see them marketing it as such and adding some extra $$$ to their margins. The problem is the dealers who will no doubt tack another $10-$15k on top of these…but without ADM’s the 250 is priced accordingly I think.

Considering inflation and MRSP mark ups on 250’s I see even more reason to buy a good 200 which fits your budget.

Corwin Toyota in Fargo, although they have many locations

One thing I’m sure we can all agree on around here is that the Toyota dealership experience (with the exception of a select few) has gone down the toilet in recent years. This alone is making me lean towards the GX.

So true... I've had some Toyota dealerships try to pull some major BS with me. I find Lexus dealers much more honest and transparent.

Sure we do. Go over to the Lexus store and buy yourself an LX 600. Be sure to bring wheelbarrows full of cash.
All the LX needs is a facelift to tone down that front and and tidy up that interior little.
Overtrail LX is also a strong possibility because they also released an overtrail NX.

Lets imagine a triple locked overtrail LX 600.
That would be my dream rig honestly but only if they fix that interior. It may be functional I just hate how it looks. It is slightly better in real life but I don't like it.

Agree about the awful front grill and odd screens but other than front lockers what would the LX OT give you that the GX OT doesn’t? I think my preference would be a Triple Locked slightly re-tuned GX.

Like you said, this is personal preference.
The LX 600 is still a cut above the GX. It translates into the overall product, even in the most minor details. This will be further elevated in future updates.
Worth it? For me yes, for others, probably not.

Also I would rather have AHC over E-KDSS. The new system in the LX 600 is actually much improved vs the LX 570. I hope that if they ever release an Over Trail LX, they keep AHC optional at least.
I know some people prefer having the option to change out for aftermarket suspension and run something else and ease of maintenance down the line but for my use, AHC is perfect.

The GX 550 is a beautiful vehicle and a home run for Lexus and even if I would have a tough time deciding between both honestly.

Both products will just keep on getting better as the model years go by.

I very much would rather E-KDSS over AHC but like you said, personal preference but I’m just curious why you consider the LX a cut above. Not saying you’re right or wrong but why?

Because it is. The LX is the flagship BoF product.
It is like comparing an E class to an S class.
Someone more knowledgable than me can probably go into better detail on every single thing that is superior on the LX vs the GX, mechanically and otherwise but that doesn't mean this is a direct knock to one vehicle or me trying to put the GX down, because that is the hierarchy of Lexus.

I still think the new GX for its class is a more competitive product than the LX. The LX has room for improvement still.

It does need a different grille and the center stack is a hot mess. Hopefully Lexus will resist the wall-to-wall screens that seem to be the rage now (Mercedes EQS, Lincoln Nautilus, Cadillac Escalade IQ, etc.).

Looks like we may start seeing buttons return again because it went too far.

if any vehicle will keep doing button vs screen mix proper its the Land Cruiser.
LC 250 + LC 300 are doing this well.
