we'll have our year and a half old there. Shell be running around but not as engaged as a 7 yr old haha. @FuglyYota

Question - is there power at the campgrounds at the Cove? More curious than anything, I have a decent inverter that will run most things but beginning to think they the packing list.

no there is no power at the camp area we use. Nor is there any running water either. There are popper showers and toilets about a 5 minute drive from the camp area though.
Bring potable water and power for yourself. There are always folks that will let you bum some power and charge things if need be though.

We are getting closer . . . Fall Crawl is just 3 weeks away! I hope your rig is ready to roll (mine is for the most part, just a few minor things I want to finish up). Below are some points of interest that may help you prepare for the event and may increase the fun factor while you are there.
  • Registration tent: Thursday 5–7pm, Friday 8–10am and 6–7pm, Saturday 8–10am and 6–8pm.
  • Firewood: if you have space, consider bringing some firewood to the party! Don't bring an open trailer full of wood (be discreet), but whatever you can fit will make the evenings that much warmer.
  • 50/50 raffle for Hurricane Helene survivors: The residents of NC (and elsewhere) were hit especially hard by the catastrophic flooding caused by the hurricane. We will hold a fundraising raffle on Saturday; tickets will be available for purchase at the registration tent (cash only) for $10 a ticket; please buy as many tickets as you can. All funds raised will be donated to the Manna Food Bank of Asheville, NC.
  • Truck-or-treat: Bringing kids that will miss Halloween? Let us know how many, we plan on doing some kind of truck-or-treat during the raffle (stay tuned).
  • Ice: If you have extra room, consider adding an extra bag or ice for the kegs that will be consumed Friday and Saturday evening.
  • Maps: If you, like me, planned on using Maprika again this year to see where you are on the trails, you will soon find out that Maprika is no longer available as an app. Boo! We suggest using OnX Offroad, many of us use it already and it works pretty well. There is even a free trial use!
  • Volunteers: Every successful nonprofit event runs on volunteer power; thank you in advance to our many members that have selflessly volunteered their time and effort to the cause! :) We can always use more. Gear set-up on Thursday looks to be well-manned, but we can certainly use a couple of extra hands when it's time to break down the club tent and gear on Sunday morning. We have a handful of guys (two-man teams, trail lead and a tail gunner/tail-end charlie) that have volunteered to lead green (maybe blue?) trail rides on Friday and Saturday mornings (Andrew, Paul, Eric, Kevin, Paul W., Burl, Finn, Fred) but a few more are always welcome.
To be a CLCC member in good standing, you have to also be a member of TLCA (CLCC is a local chapter of TLCA). If you like what we do, if you like what you do when you are with the CLCC, and/or you are a Land Cruiser nut, we highly encourage you to make the commitment and join the TLCA. It's less than $50 a year and you will get a cool sticker, will receive the Toyota Trails magazine several times a year, and will have access to other neato benefits, like being able to attend the annual Rubithon event in California!

See you at The Cove!

Put me down for helping out on Sunday when we pack up. I can also help at the registration tent when needed.

Thinking I'll get there Thursday morning, but might get there Wednesday night if I can swing it.

Thanks Kevin for your detailed post! My goal is to run Blue trails most/all weekend as a lead or tail (whichever is needed)...I'll be there on Wednesday night so I can do some scouting on Thursday. I'll probably do some trail/map consultations with @TTViper as I hope to lead as well as he did for my group last year for my first time out to The Cove. :steer: 🦀

Don’t think the 40 is going to be done for Fall Crawl. The seal on the last valve tore! Replacements came in today but need to replace the rear bearings and cv axles on my daughters Focus.
I’d rather ride wrong seat and help nav for a trail leader.

Don’t brag. Some of us still need to put our truck back together. 😂

Matbe I'm missing something, but I'm not finding a decent map for the Cove using OnX Offroad. I have OnX and used it in Moab and on the Rubicon Trail earlier this year, but the Cove OHV area on the OnX map doesn't appear to have real detail maps showing all the trails (certainly no trail difficulty ratings either). I think you can only use it to see where you are and have been on the property, but may not be of much use navigating to where you want to go.

Does anyone have better insight into how OnX can be used for The Cove?

I still use Maprika on my Google phone... I uploaded the map we give out of the trials and track the ones I take that are green-ish Maprika still works fine on Android

Looks like you can sign up for OnX offroad elite for free for 7 days.
I'm thinking sign up at home tuesday download all the maps run it like a rental car but again are the cove trail maps there?

Just curious is the club doing Hamburgers /hotdogs again to go along with Happy Hour?

Shameless plug looking to sell my 2006 Jamis Dakar XC Comp full suspension Mountain Bike. It is in great shape and rides smoothly. Sadly I don't ride it much at all. I have been using my hardtail more and more .... Would love for this to go to someone who would use it! It would be a great bike for someone to get into XC riding. I can easily bring it to Fall Crawl...

Hey Everyone.

BBRC will be bringing a bunch of older t-shirts from past Fall Crawl events to sell. If you are missing one or want to replace a worn out one come find me and I will show you what we have.

Edit: I may not have as many as I thought, but may have some other cool stuff from past years.

cool that makes my menu planning easier now!

Remember Ill be doing Teriyaki Beef mix on lettuce cups to share on Thursday night...
And thinking crab cakes on Friday that I'll be doing again... I'll probably bring a 6 pound batch to dole out about 40 cakes/sliders. Should have at least a couple dozen available after my commitments are fulfilled!
