@scottm, it is a big project.
Looking for ways to save time. Can't help wonder if I could have cut the bottom of the bumper free without taking the whole thing off the truck. Oscillating multi-tool would have not cut the wires and washer hose unless I went crazy. They use them to cut casts off people without breaking skin.
 
No turning back now. Unless I pay someone to fix this and delete this thread and then claim my account was hacked.

Long stud goes through this hole. Not easy to see on the directions.

Keep going Scott. Great progress thus far. You know a fat white tail deer has been eyeing your truck for weeks while considering a suicide run into your headlights.

Parking sensor surrounds are fragile. Three tiny clips on each to hold the sensor in.

When installing, there is a notch inside the inner housing to keep the sensor from rotating, need to position that right.

Wire looms for connecting the LED indicator lights are the opposite of the instructions, driver side means right. And when the instructions say black wire there are three, blue wire there are two. Picture doesn't help, can't see a thing, seems like it would be easier for ARB to put these instructions and pics online...? I used a test light to figure out which blue wire. The black wire is the skinniest of the three.

I crammed the wire and plugs up into the engine bay, driver's side they are next to the battery. Kind of hard to secure them there, no room for my hands.

I am eager to see the final product. Also curious to see how the stock suspension handles the weight and how it feels when driving.
 
Still not getting the camera mount figured out. This is definitely where it should go, but there is a steel shelf immediately behind the camera so no room for the plug. I'll put it back in stock position for now and work on that later. Skid plates to go, then cleanup, getting hungry and tired.

I think if I build a spacer under the mount and cut out another piece of the plastic, raising the camera should give me room for the plug behind it.

Great thread! Thanks for the commentary and photos. As these vehicles get more complex, the bullbar installs look more and more tedious. I appreciate you taking the time to document the experience.

Not done, but the important stuff is all on there. Done for the night anyway. Started it and didn't get any warnings. Lost half an inch at the front wheel arch.

This is with probably two gallons of fuel, and all my usual tools out of the back.

I just realized I forgot to pin it. Fog lights and surrounds will have to come back out. No way I'm going without pinning the bar to the mounts. There are several things left to do.
 
Driving home, still feels wallowy soft on these stock tires. I think I'll keep them for our road trip in October, still deciding what tires to put on it. But not noticeably nose-heavy. I put ARB bumpers on my 80 and 100, no winch, and could not tell any difference. My wife had the same year 80 and it drove the same as mine with bumper. So I'm not expecting any difference.

@scottm, looks great! I forgot to pin mine too. Had to take it back apart and pin it. I might take it off again when I install spot lights and put welting all the way across the bottom of the cut in the old bumper instead of just the 12-16" on each side. No one will ever look at it but me, but I'll look at it. I wish I would have taken pics of the entire install to post on here, i was stumped on several steps where the instructions just didn't cover it well.

Kind of glad I didn't pin it, as I'm not happy with the alignment, height, even-ness, level-ness, pretty much did a terrible job with adjusting.

Loosen, adjust, check, tighten, check, loosen, adjust, check, tighten, check,..............................

Plenty of room between the mounts for a full-size drill, why did ARB put the pilot holes on the outside where there is not room for a drill??? I'll drill my own lower hole to pin it.

too big of drill i guess, mine was super easy to access where they had them - through the fog light holes.
I wonder if yours was different? The upper pin hole is easy through the fog light hole, but the lower on mine is too close to the angled bottom of the bumper. This is a standard drill bit stuck in the lower pin pilot hole, it almost touches the bumper edge. An angle drill would also need a short drill bit to fit in that hole.

I used that drill bit to visually line up a 1/8" drill bit on the opposite side of the flange. Didn't hit the hole dead-center, but pretty close. Then drilled with a 25/64" bit for a close fit for the M10 bolts. If you really bugger these holes up, drill them bigger and source high-grade M12 bolts and nuts.

When we "pin" parts together on assembly machines built at this shop, we press-fit hardened dowels in holes precisely reamed for that, there is no movement possible. I contemplated doing that, or easier using hardened shoulder bolts with washers. But this worked out.

I’ve got ARB front and rear (with swing out) on my 80. I was impressed with just how difficult they are to install for what they are. Good product, but I don’t think the engineer spent much time on the shop floor putting the designs to life.
