I just bought a '17 LC and I'm ready to get it decked out with just about everything. Bumpers and a winch seem like a good place to start. Can anyone suggest bumpers that will work with the factory radar, sensors, cameras, etc without too much modification? I'd like to keep all the OEM gadgets if possible.
Are there any besides ARB that will work?

Thanks Guys

If you want a bull bar then your options are pretty much ARB or TJM. I just went through this process though due to some family issues and the overall cost I decided not to pull the trigger at this point in time. I believe TJM is slightly more accommodating to the OEM stuff. Only in the sense that they don’t relocate the camera. Both handle all the sensors and radar is OK provided you don’t go crazy with auxiliary lighting on top of the bumper. But big difference (aside from the fact that the ARB sticks out a bit further) is that with the ARB they relocate the camera to the bumper itself and in the process it is moved a few inches to the right. But by doing this the camera has no interference from the bumper. The TJM leaves the camera in place so the top of the bumper shows up a bit along the bottom of the camera view but, again, the TJM doesn’t stick out as far.

Of course there are other considerations that matter to people here: reputation, available stock, ease of working with the company, installation options (cut or no-cut of OEM bumper), etc. I can’t comment on any of that.

I believe that @brasskey has a TJM on a 16+. Others have ARB.

Thanks Dan. Pretty much decided on a ARB front bumper, but can't see to find one that works for the rear.
Is ARB not selling their rear bumper anymore for the 2017-2018 LC's? My shop said they couldn't order the rear anymore.

Sorry. I can’t help you with the rear bumper as I have not considered one. But there may be a reason Slee makes their own. And there are other options out there I believe. But I’m not the right person to ask.

We (dissent offroad) are getting close to releasing our front and rear aluminum bumpers. All factory equipment is retained.

ARB is definitely an option for the 16+ LC but I’d suggest a good shop install it (Slee did mine) to make sure the plastic is cut right and overall installed well.

Hey, Matt, I'm just curious. Why do a rear bumper if you're not carrying a spare or jerry cans or whatever? Does it significantly improve your departure angle? Or is it simply to have a stronger bumper in case you do rub while being off road. One more question, do you if there is an option for relocating the trailer hitch wiring plug more to the center of the vehicle when you do that bumper? It is a pain having it way off to the side.

Because the original plastic one was smashed on Metal Masher, Hells Revenge, and Wipeout Hill within a couple weeks of buying the truck and it didn't make sense to replace with plastic again :) The ARB is a step up in clearance, protection, and functionality and IMO looks fantastic. I personally don't like swing outs for a whole bunch of reasons - poor visibility, poor rear camera visibility, poor access to the hatch, extra weight, adding extra weight in a bad place (high and rear), and a few others. The ARB doesn't relocate the trailer wiring, and TBH I've never pulled a trailer and likely never will so it doesn't bug me at all.

Thanks for the clarification, Matt. I can't keep straight who has had which vehicle when or what they have done with them.
The improvements make sense. And I, like you, do not want to add weight to the rear and would find the swing-away approach to be far too inconvenient. And if I ever put a rear bumper on, it will only after I have done something to destroy the original.

Clearly these Dissent aluminum bumpers are not intended to deflect large animal strikes. They don't have bull bars. But if they did, how would that work? Is aluminum strong enough? If I ever get around to doing a bumper, I would want sufficient animal strike protection. Can you get that with an aluminum bumper?

I've only had 3 200s now so I don't know why it's hard to keep it straight :D I actually said this same ARB on my 14, and I really like it especially relative to price. You can come check it out in person some time if you want.

I really would enjoy getting together some time. Now that I am retired, I have more time and more flexibility. I'll be traveling a fair bit in February so if we can't work something out before then it would need to be March.

A properly engineered aluminum bumper can definitely protect against an animal strike! If you look at most semi truck bull bars they are built from aluminum. There is also a misconception that a bumper without a bull bar will not help with an animal strike and that is simply not the case.
I have hot dear with both and while I sustained less damage with the full bull bar the bumper without the bull bar offered a good amount of protection and ultimately allowed me to drive it home which wouldn't have been the case with the stock bumper.
We build steel and aluminum so that is 100% an unbiased opinion.
I would say the only downside to aluminum is it will not slide as well on the rocks and will gouge.

I am looking at the TJM for mine. Can someone explain the difference between "bumper cut" and the (not) bumper cut versions?

"Other" version 070SB13N82C 4WD Accessories - TJM Rear Bar - 4x4 Accessories | TJM Australia
Bumper cut is like the ARB where you cut part of the plastic bumper off and fit the bumper just below it. The “other” version is a full replacement where you take the entire OEM bumper off and replace it with the new bumper. If you look closely at the photos, you can see these differences. The two also look a bit different due to design differences to accommodate non-cut vs. full replacement. I have the full replacement if you ever come up to Denver and want to see it.

Thanks. It what situation would the bumper cut be a better choice? I'll PM to take a look, especially of it is 2016+.

There's not really a "better" choice". They both have the same features (combo LED turn signals, fog lights, recovery points, holes for parking sensors, aerial tabs, winch accommodation, etc.). There's really only styling differences. It's really up to which one you like the look of better. If you don't want a full replacement, then go with a bumper cut. One thing to note is that the bumper cut uses replacement headlight washers whereas the full replacement uses the stock washers. See below for videos and pictures.

I see now that the bumper cut version looks more like a bullbar bolted to the front of the truck, as they often are. The full replacement seems to integrate more like a factory component. The foothills region south of Denver is infested with deer so I hope a bullbar will protect the vehicle and also hopefully more likely kill the deer rather than injure it. I see them along the road (dead and alive) every single day.

Any long term user feedback on the "no-cut" version of this bumper? I bought it few years go for my 2021, but never got around to installing it (long story).

I wonder if due to the frame movement there is a risk of metal to metal contact. The cut version might be better in that regard even if it looks less integrated.
