Random thread but figured it might get some opinions flying...

I have a 2013 LX with 103K that I bought in 2020. I would say 9/10 condition, zero issues so far.

My friend is about to sell/trade a 2017 LC with 140K mi, all highway miles (his business requires frequent 2-hour trips). He has maintained by the book and looks great, he just wants newer vehicle.

I could probably do the trade for $6-8K. Maybe is irrational to trade for higher mileage version, but I prefer styling of 2016+ LC and infotainment stack to my LX. I also recognize that LC version of 200 *may* hold value better long term due to less supply, LC brand.

I recognize some people like comfort of LX AHC / seats better, and that is definitely a consideration.

Any thoughts from those who have owned both?

I have not owned both, but I'll throw in my vote to keep the LX.
You have the "refreshed" LX front, less miles, and as you said - AHC!

I'm not sure if this formula still holds, but when I was shopping, I used to value every 10k miles as $1k. So you have $4k credit for miles, but I'm not sure what the 4 years of newer model year are worth.

That's tough, we went from a 2019 LX570 to a brand new LC and in many ways we prefer the LC. Better infotainment setup, better styling, better resale value (esp. now with no 300 Series LC stateside). While we loved our LX I wasn't a huge fan of AHC like so many here appear to be and my wife just never really gelled with the styling. Hard decision given the higher miles but do what your gut suggests as neither are high mileage for the platform.

I have had both a '14 LX and now a '17 LC. Just like you, I preferred the looks of the LC. The LX had a better ride and better transmission. I have had the update for my trans and it still is not nearly as smooth in 1st/2nd gear as the LX. Plus the steering wheel leather is peeling badly in the LC that I never had in the LX. Overall I still prefer the LC, but could have easily stayed with the LX with no regrets. Both are great vehicles.

Are you planning to do AHC maintenance (coming up soon?) on your LX yourself or have someone do it? That may influence your decision. But then again, 2017 LC probably needs new radiator? Interior of LX is definitely nicer than any LC. But LC has great headlights.

Newer 2016+ LC/LX have bigger front brakes and more gearing in the transmission (good for towing and off-roading).

Tough decision indeed.

Does the 17 LC have any of Toyota's Safety Suite in it? If you have kids, I'd lean towards the safer vehicle if your family is in tow.

Not sure about earlier LC/LX, but i love the DRCC and BLINDSPOT with cross traffic alert.

The blindspot alert when backing up is super handy and I must say it is pretty good on the Toyota/Lexus.
