Hey Guys,

I started what I thought was going to be a pretty straightforward install of a beat Sonic Nav Override device when I ran into a head unit connector issue.

I started to pull the head unit late the other night but then decided to wait until I had more time and patience.

I was pretty sure I didn't yank any plugs/connectors from the rear of the head unit when I quit the first night but when I finally got back to pulling the plugs and then started to hook up the Beat Sonic device I noticed there wasn't a connector/plug in the Steering Wheel Control slot and most importantly I couldn't find a Steering Wheel 12 pin plug/connector from the vehicle.

There's definitely not one (that I can see) connected to the main cable/connector bunch so I thought the steering wheel cable was independent and maybe it slipped back into the cavernous hole where the head unit is installed. I have looked everywhere and felt around in there and there doesn't seem to be one. In mine the steering wheel connector is in the upper middle of the head unit connectors next to the big 59 pin connector and it's the 12 pin.

Is anyone familiar with the 86110-60190 Head Unit (I think they're in 2013-2015 LX's with ML) and the associated connector wires from the vehicle?? If so do you recall if you have a 12 pin Connector/Steering Wheel Control Connector/Plug wire and if it comes off the main cable bunch or is it a separate cable/wire from some other location?

Thanks VERY much!

This beatsonic part?

Did you find anything in this TLC Thread? The JBL and ML HUs are very different, but maybe the steering wheel controls aren't?

Some 2016+ LX threads running around too. Didn't find any for the 2nd gen LX570.

Thanks for digging Grinchy. I looked but didn't find anything. Mine is a NDS6223EP Nav and DVD In Motion Controller device.

Beat Sonic has a couple of videos on installation and I'm working with one of their guys but they don't have too much familiarity since so few people have these for an LX.

I think there may be a connector from the vehicle because I just reconnected everything (the video screen and the head unit) and then reattached the battery and the steering wheel controls aren't doing anything on the console and the video screen is blank. Is there a fuse/fuses that may have blown for some reason i can check?

secondary question re: fuses.

Does the LX use standard vehicle fuses or are there unique fuses? Also is there supposed to be a fuse puller in the fuse box? Don't think mine is still there. I want to get additional spare fuses since there are few in the fuse boxes that I've seen.

Thanks.

I have this part solved I believe. I used an on line mechanic and he told me that the multi connector 59 pin socket uses the 14 pin section for the steering wheel controls. I also found the fuse diagrams and as soon as I get a fuse puller will be checking those.

If they are the same as the land cruiser, they use the low profile mini fuses (low profile ATM), but mini fuses (ATM) will work. Mine has a puller in the main fusebox.

I replace the main fuse box ones (engine bay) with regular mini size as they are easier to work with. The a pillar fuses I leave as micro or low profile.

I checked all the fuses that I thought were relevant:

Engine Compartment
- 42 AMP 2 Audio
- 51 AMP 1 Audio
- 52 RAD No. 1 Audio / NAV

Cabin Driver Side
- 3 ACC Audio / Multi Display Assembly
- 4 PANEL Multi Information Display / Audio System
- 14 ECU - IG NO. 1 Multi Display Assembly

Cabin Passenger Side
- 7 TEL Multimedia
- 16 TV Multi-Display Assembly

All looked good.

The only functions that are working are the digital clock display and the hazard flasher on the stereo. All else on Stereo and Display Screen is dead.

Also all the steering wheel controls are also dead.

Open to creative suggestions....

OK I got it figured out. It turned out to be a very quirky plug issue but it's all installed, tested and reassembled and I'm good. Thanks for your help.
