Hi All,

First post here, I went about 5 pages deep and I see a lot of MOD related threads and some travel threads.

My questions are general about the current LC's. We currently own a 4Runner and are in the market for a second SUV for the wife and I will take the 4Runner, Finally!!!

We test drove the LC and it's by far my favorite SUV that I drove, I mean wow, this thing is a beast and elegant at the same time.

Our main concern is gas millage, I know I know if that's our concern than stay away. What I wanted to know is what is everyone averaging with gas millage, with and without mods (skids, sliders etc..) they rate it at 15 but when we test drove it, it was showing 6 MPG!! Either thats insanely true or someone had a ball with it before we drove it.
We average about 14-15 with the 4runner so 15 is acceptable. Please do share your numbers.

Secondly, does anyone know what the cargo space is with the 3rd row seats completely removed? Or even with the seats folded? All I can find is with the 3rd row in place or complete cargo area.

Any other information for a first time LC potential owner would be appreciated.

Thanks all!

Here are some of my MPG data.

All I have is sliders and an awning hanging from the factory rack. Plus whatever cargo might be inside, fridge, gear, occupants.

On the trail and forest roads doing 10-20 mph I am getting between 9-10 mpg.

Some of my highway miles pulling my military trailer and RTT, 12-14 mpg.

I have seen as 18.38 and as low as 9.06 mpg.

Averaging about 13.73 mpg with all my driving (towing, trails, highway).

I am seeing probably 14-16 MPG around town and highway combined.

Awesome, thanks for that!
Any info about the cargo space?

That I can't help you with since I keep one seat folded up and throw and ARB fridge in and the other seat remains down and my one daughter sits there.

Regarding the cargo area with third row seats folded. We were able to put 8 check suit cases and 4 carry on within the cabin with middle row seats slide to forward position and upright. We had total for five passengers in cruiser. All of suit cases were same size. I was impressed with how much we were able to fit in the cabin.

BTW, where in California are you? and welcome to forum. and that is post #200.

Congrats on post #200, I'm on Orange County, you?

Have you ever removed one of the seats? Do you get some gain there?

My pig of a 4Runner and bone stock LC get around the same mileage. If you drag race the LC you'll see single digits, otherwise you'll be alright.

Space in the LC with 3rd row folded up is probably close to what I have in the 4Runner only taller. If you want a ton of cargo space in a Toyota check out the Seqouia.

There is also a way to fit four mounted 33" tires in there as well with the rear seats folded up. Middle row needs to move forward some is what I think I did last time.

I have not removed rear seats. I think removing them will not make big difference as there is rear wheel wells that will constraint this width. And I am Sacramento County.

LX570 get 15 mpg on premium since that's what the Lexus calls for. This is about 50% highway and 50% city. You should take the 200 series and let the wife drive the 4 runner. Have no idea about the room without the seats. I know I can fit a case of beer back there so I'm good to go.

Did you reset the MPG thing before you left for the test drive?

Otherwise vehicles spend a lot of time idling in the lot motionless as well as short bursts around before warming up. All adding up to a terrible reading on the dash.

I have 33's inch tires, but otherwise stock and I get almost exactly what the sticker says. 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the hwy. If you have a lead foot, you will get MUCH worse.

I would bet the 6 was because it was recently fueled. When they get fueled, the MPG meter resets and you dont get a good average until it gets a few miles on it. That and it probably sat idling for a bit with the ac on full blast while being looked at and prepped etc.

Highway driving with cruise on and AC I average high teens. Around town its 14-15 depending on how many lights I get stuck at. You wont regret an LC!

Here is another set. Miles on 1 tank and gallons of fuel to cutoff.

IMHO, you can fit plenty of loot on the back of an LC. No seats removed.

I have the 3rd Row Seat Covers as well. I like them as they keep the seats clean but also give you extra storage pockets. They're Toyota Japanese spec. I got them from here:

https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/25585

According to the website's currency converter, they can currently be had for $84.24.

I believe you can also find them on eBay and/or Amazon, but when I purchased them through the website that was the better price.

In order not to start another subject, maybe someone can help me with a curiosity.

Can someone explain me the differences between the regular Toyota Land Cruiser LC200 4.5 diesel sold all over Europe (272 HP version) and this version sold for charities, UN, etc by Toyota Gibraltar ? http://www.toyota-gib.com/eng/model...r-200-gx-automatic-8-seater-VDJ200-GNTNZ.html

I am not curious about the design differences, they are obvious. The engine seems to have exactly the same displacement, same engine model though under powered for some reason that I'm missing (yet it's still twin turbo) and the maximum torque is just a little bit lower.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I was reading some german automotive forums and I found out these LC200's sold by Toyota Gibraltar are so sought after but I can't understand why.

Thanks

As I understandit, I may be wrong, but its the turbos. The Denco turbo systems (aftermarket) are installed as a dealer option by Toyota Gibraltar. The rest of the world is getting them from the factory.

I bet there is a limit to power/displacement or something like that in that region or there is a tax. Similar to how the European Civic R's 306hp 4 cylinder has to be produced in the US and exported to Europe (engine only)

Well they are not even allowed to be sold in Europe. They are exported exclusively to non-profit/UN organizations so I believe they are not even taxed anywhere.

They're possibly tuned differently to permit less pure fuel that is encountered in third world countries. This may yield less power output, whereas the European/Aussie spec Cruisers can be programmed for more power using higher quality fuel.
