Any advice or past experience appreciated. This morning a car stopped short in front of me and I slammed on the brakes. The Pre Colision System engaged and the seatbelts tightened etc. Normally they disengage and loosen up but it doesn't seem so this time. The drivers side now seems somewhat bound and slow to pull in and out. The passenger side functions as normal but I'm not even sure if the PCS engages on that side when riding alone. I tried letting it sit and also disconnected the battery hoping it would hard reset the system but nothing seems to be freeing it. I tried searching but didn't find much on the topic. Just wondering if anyone has run across this before I take it in for service. Thanks!

I had the exact same thing happen to my 2011 LC 3 months ago. Could barely pull the seatbelt out of the reel. My service advisor was able to have Toyota goodwill the $543 part if I paid the $180 labor. The 200 had the issue for a few days then sat 1/2 a week and it miraculously fixed itself... I did not have anything replaced but wondering if it's a safety issue now and should.

Seatbelt malfunctions are an area I suspect Toyota is always going to be willing to help with....bc they know their liability booty is on the chopping block if you get hurt after reporting it.

If need be, put it in writing that it seems like an unsafe state of affairs, and I’d wager they’ll help.

Currently experiencing the exact same issue. Maybe disconnecting the battery will reset it. Will report back tonight.

Bumping this old post. Has anyone found a fix for this? If I pull the seat belt all the way out it seems to reset itself and work properly until happens again a few days later.

The pre-collision tensioning happens a few days later? Are you lifted? Has a zero point calibration been done?

Yes. I'm lifted. No calibration has been done. Passenger side seatbelt and rear seat belts are unaffected.

Yeah I’d definitely look at that procedure. The pre-tensioning should be happening that much and zero-point helps the vehicle decide when it’s necessary.

Edit: shouldn’t!

Will do. Thanks!
