Hey all.
California strikes again. Deer valley trail is closed this year ( hopefully only this year ) along with about thirty other trails.
Bottom line, I'd like to do the event again this year but we need to find a suitable location. Any input would be appreciated. I have a couple of ideas but the more options we have, the better.
things we're looking for:
1) enough room for 40-50 rigs campling close to each other
2) shelter ( trees and such )
3) close to a body of water would be nice
4) road/trail to the location must be suitable for stockers with no risk of incuring any damage
5) some mild wheeling trails nearby would be a plus
Thanks in advance!

bring it down south

Nevada isn't far from Deer creek...

Bishop area?

Owens Valley with a run into the park from the North.
Panamints, Jawbone, Kennedy Meadows, Hollister Hills

Rubicon/Wentworth Springs

Coyote Flats (but a long way to go)

Panamint Valley would be perfect but it's really a long way and might still be hot

Desatoya in Nevada is pretty nice and wide open moderate offroading

Bummer they closed your venue

Good camping at the bottom of Slickrock but no way to get the stockers into the trail. We camped at the top for the first 45 Run and came down the trail a good ways. And it's one of the options I was considering.

Also thinking about going into red lake and then camping at the trail at Winnemacca lake where we went for lunch last year. Beautiful spot but somewhat exposed if the wind hits it just right.

That would shave a couple of hours off of my commute.

But I won;t be there again for a couple of years'

The bottom of Dusy at Courtwright Res would be a great destination. It's a little remote, but really a great spot and the harder core trucks could go and play on Thompson Hill.

It's a long way from anywhere but a really good destination.
