hi i have a lx570 with a blown engine. how much should it cost to fix or replace the motor with a used motor

Use this website and lookup "engine" - Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

The 5.7 came in many models fortunately, and are 95% the same. Whole engine swaps are relatively easy for most shops. Once they have the donor motor, they will just swap all the ancillary things specific to the LX. And drop it right back in.

I would absolutely get a whole complete low mileage used motor than have a shop try to rebuild the blown motor. Much more likely to last than having a shop work on the sensitive internals and get all the clearances and tolerances correct.

What happened??

yeah thats the plan it seems but i saw 2 options flexfuel and non flexfuel. also wondering are all the 3ur engines the same. can i just use one from a 2010 tundra.

after checking some prices i found a few motors from 3500-5000 range. my shop told me its gonna cost me about 8k. and was wondering if this is a decent price?

as for what happened im not sure yet. just want to know what its gonna cost me if i have to replace whole motor.

I too would like to hear what happened. First time I've ever heard of a blown motor on a 100/200 series.

+1

How do you blow one? I have left mine at cruise at 135 mph for 5-6 hours straight with no issues (probably closer to 9 with pit stops on the highway at night).

Since your tires are only good up to 106 mph and cruise control does not work at 135 mph,

Let me try that again ...

Wow!

Driving back from Brooklyn to Chicago last cyber monday morning. It wasnt me technically, it was my 22 year old driver and I believe he said he was doing more than 130. I slept in the trunk and was unaware other than the bumps and the wind noise. I have escort radar detector and laser jammers and he would slam brake periodically. We forgot tires were officially rated for 113mph(thats what discount tire had originally told me). Personally, I dont go passed 105mph anymore as I'm not looking to get arrested again. I'm usually cruising 100 mph watching amazon prime on my dash.

Natural selection. Hope you don’t take anyone else out.

No I'm very careful. It sounds much worse than what it is. It actually keeps me awake at night. I watched Valerian the day before yesterday through a big wind storm from Racine to chicago, the movie was pretty intense, so was the wind. I put it in cruise and ate a 3 course meal while watching. Got home 4am, slept 2 hours and went back to work. Having the IPF Super Bright LED headlights and fogs helps ALOT. I can see over a half mile down the road. If it wasn't illegal I'd install an LED light bar as driving through the big construction zone with my icons is like floating on butter. The Icons do love speed and it feels like baja racing. The sweet spot for the Icons with stock spring seems to me 80-100mph.

$3K labor for installed sound good for none LC or LX engine. If engine is a direct replacement LC or LX drop-in with no part swapping, $2k labor would be reasonable. That is a real "off the cuff" estimate.

I've seen and heard of 2UZ blown engines, and they are considered one of best ever built. The million mile engine!

I paid $800 labor for my LX470 engine to be replaced with a Tundra engine (I blew a rod with wrong tune on SC). The tundra 4.7 cost me $850 off of ebay.

Grade A trolling
Forgive me if I said something stupid last night at 1am

where did you pay 800 labor? would labor be similar for 5.7 v8? i searched so far i know its the same a the seqouia and tundra non flex fuel 5.7 v8 .

im guessing previous owner rarely change motor oil or had a leak or something.

In many states, that speed can actually trigger a felony charge. Not wise.

While I did get my WRX to 154 mph...it was brief...and on a brand new, empty, pre-driven stretch of highway. Doing that in a 7000lb SUV for hours is asking for death of those nearby.

I’m no nanny...but your 23 year old friend is lucky you all fidn’t Die that night, and take out a family or two with you.

PS. I sold my WRX not too long after that little outburst. :)

funny my max speed is 154, 2003 evo with 450 wheel hp

Ha! I deleted that post be I felt hypocritical for poo-pooing that kind of speed after admitting my own momentary skinny-pedal disease... :)

But Ya, At 154, my speedometer hit the pin and couldn’tmeasure any higher. So I let that be it. I had a very slight down hill angle in the road as well...so I can’t give the engine 100% credit...but ya, that was one fun little car.

When Subaru add the expected bit of electric assisted torque to their redo on the STI...I’ll be tempted once again. :steer:
