I was late to the GX game, driven mainly by the following 2 factors. The first being I was not brave enough to list my beloved 2002 4R for sale, we had a 16-year relationship and traveled some 1/2 million miles together. The second, was I wasn't really into the looks of the GX, it has a solid soccer mom, and middle-aged golfer looks to it that are hard to overcome. But the additional space and power won me over. Sold my 1/2 million mile 4R and started the hunt. Found a few scattered throughout the US, struck a deal, booked a flight, took delivery, and flew home. The goal was to have the GX prepped for GSMTR 2022 by May. I made it, but barely. I used the idea that if it worked on the last truck I’d carry it over on this one. Do it once was the motto.

Congrats! We like pictures around here so be sure to show off your new ride! Any plans for it ?

After a few weeks of driving around FL with semi-stock suspension (rear airbags converted to coils), I noticed I kept bottoming out over interstate expansion joints. Instead of replacing the dried-out bump stops, the most sensible solution was new suspension. Wheelers Offroad provided an assembled set of Bilstein 5100's w/ OME 885's, a 1/2" top out spacers, and 3" dual-rate springs for the rear.

Then of course I needed the Rock Auto Mevotech (SPC) adjustable upper control arms, and 333 Fabrications Camlininators.

Then it was time for a shake-down run with big'uns at Citrus WMA in West Central FL.

And since now we are Lexus fancy, fresh trail side shucked oysters seemed perfect.

Next up, National back orders suck and 35’s were not available I settled for 315 Nitto RG’s. At some point I snuck a 2” body lift on the GX. I felt this was necessary to lessen the cutting & massaging of body panels and plastics. To date I am the Biggest GX I know of in FL.

I ran a little while with no full size spare but sourced a low mileage 35x12.5 Nitto RG. I can safely say the 35 will fit in the spare location deflated and w/o the air tank & resonator (honestly not sure if those would have been in the way just worth mentioning because they are gone).

Fridge is a great idea. Suspension done, AT tires on, some creature comforts in the back. You're well on your way now.

Can't wait to see what's next!

Christmas came late with my Coastal Fab OffRoad front bumper and filled it with a set of Baja Designs Squadron Sport Wide Cornering, Factor 55 Fairlead, and a Warn 9.5XP. I do not like my control boxes close to the winch so it will be wired and terminated somewhere in the engine bay.

Lengthened the leads on the winch, and moved the control box toward the firewall. Wrapped the winch with a product I wasn’t familiar with, MaxTrax synthetic winch line. It was more economical that the Masterpull Superline XD I typically run. Still need to take a few Meters off so it wraps with more clearance.
