Don't understand the appeal of low mileage Toyotas.

I'd take a well maintained 200k highway driven rig over a 100k city driven one all day.

The city driven one with less miles almost surely have more overal wear and tear.

Their is some truth in your preference.

Some low miles aren't driven for long spells. They have certain issues.
Some are driven often very short trips. They have certain issues.

But low miles has something I can't change "low miles"
High miles have had more hands on. So I've more corrective work.

Inspection is king in all cases.

True.

Inspection is helpful however some items like door lock actuators, telescoping steering wheel and starter may be on the verge of failure. For example, a soccer mom who drives to grocery store, school and soccer practice most days requiring the vehicle to be unlocked and started up multiple times.

Recently came across a black 06 in Washington with maybe 50k miles listed for 35k. History report shows service lights came on after owner found rodent damage. Not familiar with extent of damage and all vehicles have unknowns but yeah just know what to consider when looking at low miles like you say.

I recently bought a 95 with like 8 prior owners, suspect maintenance and it is still pretty rock solid. These trucks can take abuse and I think the 100s are much more robust than the 80s.

Wow, I live right down the street and have been looking for one of these for the Mrs. Not really after one this nice. Definitely not for the ridiculous asking price. I might go check it out just to see if the guy really has a unicorn. It's really not wise to buy a car anywhere around here that you plan on keeping. Things are in a constant salt brine around here. At least it's supposedly been garage kept. But s*** even rusts in a garage around here.

If you don't mind, let us know what your thoughts are!. Thanks

I did stop by to check the truck out today as I was three blocks away at a buddies house.

I’ll be blunt bc I’m a a perfectionist. This is no unicorn. It’s in good shape but nowhere near mint. Interior does not reflect the miles. Carpet is stained and front seats are cracking.

Mechanically it’s not mint either. Quick check on Lexus website shows multiple problems with dead battery after rodent damage. Funny rodent damage was mentioned earlier in this thread. Definitely a possibility with low mile vehicles that are parked for awhile. Lexus website says intake manifold was removed/replaced due to rodent damage.

Oh yeah and it has a distinct subtle miss at idle. Cleared up going down the road.

It’s in good condition but far from the unicorn price tag

Thanks for the update. Doesn’t Sound like a unicorn! Seems like getting something well cared for with higher mileage that has been taken care of is the way to go!

There’s a happy medium somewhere. I balked at one last month that was local and a decent deal. It was a third of the price with 170k miles
Seems like a deal now.
