Wife took the 100 thru the car wash once too often. The antenna wasn't down the first time and it got bent and won't go down all the way. Today it got bent again in it's quarter mast position.

Can just the antenna mast be replaced or is it the whole thing?

You can just change the mast. Make sure to use OEM mast. The part number is 86337-60151.
It is only about $55 from some of our favorite dealers.

If you search for it there is a video on how to do it.

Why the OEM and not aftermarket? Is the radio reception better? :)

Some have reported, some of the cheap antenna, do not last. Some of these claim to be OEM. How long have you been using this one?

If you end up needing to get the motor out like I did this video was helpful.
It may not go all the way down, seems like it's not going to work at first. But repeated use and it will settle in after awhile.

The issue with the knock offs that we were getting from ebay, that claimed to be OEM, was cord breaking within first year.

Didn't find anything in a search about the cord breaking with the Ebay ones, majority of people reporting they work just fine. Hoser mentioned the retainer ring on his wasn't holding the mast in, could be a stripped nut there, not the antennas fault. My cheapie has been great, goes up and down.

As for the claim of being OEM, no clue. I'd be skeptical that discounted dealer prices are still $50+ and someone can somehow sell OEM for $22.

Oh, I stand corrected. It was hoser that posted issues he was having. I had bought about three set of them, but never had those rigs around long enough to see how well or long they lasted. They seem great for the price. Then @hoser (IIRC) said he had issue with them.

Can you link that thread here TM, plz.

I reused the retaining ring on my most recent Genuine Toyota antenna install and it's been going on 4 years now. No rust, no issues. My AntennaMastsRUs experience was 5 years ago... which could be a different antenna than they sell today.

My best guess of what happened was the antenna rusted and in a year's time, wore out the rubber/plastic retainer and no amount of tightening the retainer nut would help. Check your antenna for rust.
