Hi guys, hope someone can help me out.
My wife has a 2004 4Runner with the 1GR-FE V-6.
It starts right up cold and runs like a champ. After driving for a while if she turns off the truck it will immediately start right back up. Let the truck sit for a 15mins and it won't start. Let it sit another 30 minutes and it starts right back up and runs great.
On occasion if it sputters when starting I get a cam sensor code but during those times it seems like a severe detonation problem.
I've repeated this scenario over and over again trying to figure it out.
Things I've changed from what I can remember
spark plugs
coil packs
can sensors
oil valve filters
fuel pump assembly
fuel pump relay
it use to stumble while driving under heavy load but I believe a new fan clutch helped that situation.
This issue started last year when I thought I had figured it out. Apparently it subsided with the change in temperature as fall approached.
Thanks for any thought with this.
