That is a nice LX- unreal low miles and who changes a timing belt at 39,000 miles due to the age? I'm in contact with the seller. I'm not sure if he is on ih8mud or not.

This is my listing and I am a member of Mud (Thanks Scott for pointing me to this link!). In reference to Scott's question about the timing belt change, the original owner was an elderly woman and I suspect that she was talked into this work by predatory Lexus dealership. I do not have the receipt for that work, but I do have one from a Lexus dealership that occured right before her passing that was for $7000+ worth of work on a variety of other things.

Should anyone have questions, please feel free to contact me at smarks@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Spencer

Hi Spencer,

I wasn't questioning whether the timing belt had actually been changed or not (or questioning your listing at all)- I'm sorry if it came across that way. I was only pointing that out to show how well maintained your very low mileage LX is. Truth is, after 10 years, the timing belt probably should be changed but I doubt many people would actually do it.

This LX is built exactly like I would build one. I'm only trying to decide whether a newer model w/ 5 speed transmission would be better for me.

I have to agree, the asking price is a little lofty. However I can see this being on the higher end of price range for one of these.

Otherwise this is a awesome looking LX with great choices on mods.

I guess in the end it's worth what ever someone will pay for it. Either way good luck with the sale!!

If I was in the market...you will never find another like it. Right color and right mods. 39k miles is new almost.

It actually has 67,000 miles now according to the ad. The timing belt was changed at 35,000 miles (I said 39,000 earlier).

I figured the following for the mods:

Front bumper- $1195
Rear Bumper- $1425
Tire carrier- $675

Sliders- $895
Skid plates- $1105
Winch- approx $1000

Stereo- approx $1000?
Lift- $900

That equals $8195 in mods not including taxes and installation.

$23,000 asking price less $8195 in mods= $14,805. Is a 2001 LX470 with excellent maintenance history worth that?

LX470

Gents,
Thanks for the kind words re: the LX.

Also, for clarification, the truck has 67.7K miles on it currently. When I bought it, it had 39K miles. I have since put approximately ~30K miles on it in my ownership.

Thanks,
Spencer

I am trying to determine how Scott got a hold of my receipts...

Joking aside, he is not far off what has been invested in this LX. There is also a lot of spare parts that would go with truck if I get close to asking price: brake line, new O2 sensors, fuel filter, FSM, a few OEM oil filters, 4 16" OEM rims, and other bits/pieces.

Yes.....I would rather pay on the front end then unknown later down the road. Been in both situations and the unexpected will kick your ass.

This assumes that you take full retail value of the parts and tack onto the "value" of the truck. I think that's an unreasonable/unrealistic expectation. Nearly everything loses value the moment you purchase it and start using it. Also, tacking on the cost of mods assumes the new buyer would have wanted it modded exactly the way it is which is also a stretch. I think it's a nice truck, but at that price it's going to sit for a while. Just my opinion, but the two points that it has going against it is in that price range most will look for 2003+ and low miles while nice don't matter as much when the truck can realistically go for half a million miles.

Nice clean rig, but in general mods receive much less of their original value at sale. You'd have better luck recouping more of that $8195 in mods if you returned the truck to stock and sold off the parts individually, even then you will take a hit. GLWS!
