So I bought another key from a local Batteries & Bulbs for my 2000 LX470. The 1st key/ remote that came in wouldn’t turn over in the ignition, but I did get the truck to recognize it as a Master key, as per the instructions from this forum.

The owner of the B&B store said the outside profile of that key was slightly off and slightly shorter than my original key.

He ordered a new key.

It came in and I was able to get there today.

Different guy is there and he takes the new key and gets it programmed to start the truck and manually lock/ unlock the doors, so we are farther along than with the 1st additional key.

He then attempts to program the lock/ unlock buttons on the key and has no luck.

I have the programming instructions from one of the threads on this site saved in my phone so I try it. Here is what I used: see attached

When I got done with the sequence, the drivers door lock/ unlock cycled once instead of 5x times, so I don’t think it is in “program mode”.

Anyone have a different sequence or can figure out what I’m doing wrong?

I’m using the manual lock/ unlock release above the door release, not the auto lock/ unlock button by the window controls.

Thanks in advance.

Does your door lock motor work correctly? If you use the electric switch panel to lock and unlock the doors, does it slowly fade and stop working?

In step 7, turn the ignition key on and off twice, not once. That's what I did for my 99. I don't recall how many times the locks cycled on mine, I was just glad they cycled at all, sounded like success to me :)

I’ll try that shortly and let you know if it works.

Thank you

Just tried this twice and it didn’t cycle at all.

Did you cycle the key to the second position, not the first one? Could also be different for the 2000 I guess.
