Thank you. I should have added that once I cycle the key there are no codes stored. What do you think about the battery, even though it has been checked after the fact and the pos terminal was replaced?Get a code reader or head to Autozone or the like and read the codes. I would be it's a sporadic (for now) coil pack.
I second that. Fuel pump or coil packs. If no codes, I would suspect the fuel pump, if original and high miles.
Thanks to everyone. It was the throttle position sensor (TPS).Get a code reader or head to Autozone or the like and read the codes. I would be it's a sporadic (for now) coil pack.
I cannot say that it happened only in the conditions you described, but the first time was driving in the White Mountains.. However, I did replace it with one from Rock Auto and the problem has not recurred. Because it happened so sporadically I can't say it won't, but so far so good.I’ve had this exact issue sporadically for the past 10 years, with the same code reading. Oddly enough, this has only ever happened while using cruise control either on long uphill highway climbs or with strong gusty winds. Did you replace the sensor or are you just going to ride it out?
