wish some of their parts would be available to the public! Anyone know the attachments of their tow hooks which seem much higher then the factory ones??

damn that thing takes a beating!!! love the pics, keep them coming!!!

Yes. I would agree. Driving a 200 in the Dakar would be at the top of my list.

I think they are working extra hard not to get beat by the 150 series like they did last year. (Need to double check but i think that is right)

Let's go team highlander for the old school 80 and 100 fans!

I see a bunch of hi lux and fj cruiser entries. I count 4 200s. Two from team japan and the rest split between Hungary and Russia.

There are a ton of Toyota's. hi luxs, 80s, 100s, 120s, fj's, 200's. the 200 got beat last year by a prado. I believe that is the First time that has happened. The 100 use to dominate this race.

glad to see others interested; I wish we would get more coverage here in the USA (and not just Roby Gordon and his trophy truck/hummer sponsored thing)

The hi-lux that came in 3rd place last year was a purpose built race truck from South Africa. They are in great demand and have lots of entires this year. the 200 did not fair well last year cause of crash :( Toyota Auto body 200 are the only factory backed ones in the race; others are private entries.
As for 80's and 100's there is another race (which follows the old Dakar race) called the Africa eco race. sponsored by sonangol. runs at the same time.

Oy! forgot to add is anyone finds links of vids or pics please link them. I have been at a crazy work schedule and have not had time to follow this year.

this is actually from the Africa eco race; follows the old line of the dakar race from the 70's and 80's (paris to dakar africa) mostly run by amateur racers and privateers

thanks for that link I forgot about that one; do you keep in contact with anyone back in japan? would love to hear about those shocks they are using.

found this in the highlights!! not sure if this his actual chase truck (i doubt that he would be allowed a non chevy truck by his sponsor) but a 200 series had to pull Robby Gordon hummer (trophy truck) thru most of the stage 2.
