JB,

Sorry about the PM/visitor message mix-up, bear with me I am not computer savvy and I went to public school as a child.

Thanks for the info on the tire issue, I am still looking for the right tire for my overland style travels.

I'm with you on the roller fairlead = wire rope idea. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem with a Hawse fairlead and synthetic rope. By any chance have you heard of any issues with anyone running synthetic rope / roller fairlead combo?

I do have a question about your Hawse fairlead, is it recessed or flush with the front of the ARB bumper?

Once again thanks for the help.

I think that would be a perfect tire size, just need to try it out.

I've never heard of any issues with the synthetic rope and rollers...but that doesn't mean that there may not be. My big objection to wire is when it breaks it can be deadly.

The hawse is definitely recessed. The rollers are about 4" deep, which creates a flush appearance on the front. With the hawse, it's only about 1" think, so it fits inside of that rectangular opening. I have photos around here that show it, as well as Mitch's photos.

Tucan,

Are those wheels 18 inch? What size tires are you running?

I wanna see a 200 out on the trail! When is anybody coming to Tucson?

I also would like to see your truck in action after going through your build thread. But Tucson is a bit far for me.

Would you mind coming down here? We have some interesting jungle trails you might enjoy if you don't mind your truck's bodywork :D

I guess we'll see many 200s going at it real hard in a few years while asking to see the new 300s in action...

:cheers:

LC 200 fuel consumption

Hi guys; my first ever posting;
I bought my LC200 4.5 v8 TD new late in 2007 when they were released here in Oman. I have undertaken a few mods - 285x70x16 BFG's, ARB 2" suspension, Long Ranger combi fuel/water tank, Warn 12000lb winch on ARB Sahara bar, etc etc. When I firts purchased the vehehicle and for the next 30,000km's I averaged 14-16 litres per 100km's. For the next 20,000 km's my consumption went crazy, reaching 25-27 litres per hundred km's whilst driving on flat tarmac roads on cruise control at 120kph (per GPS). The performance was also massively reduced. At no time was there any noticeable exhaust smoke and there were no fuel leaks. Eventually we found - the local Toyota dealer - that the rear four cylinders had very little compression and a top end overhaul including a new cylinder head were provided. Now my fuel consumption is around 19-21 ltres per hundred km's under the described conditions. Off road the LC200 is performing very poorly due to reduced power. Has anyone any idea's about what to check - the dealer has checked the fuel delivery arrangement, pressures and patterns and says all is correct and simply cannot understand the matter. As a matter of interest - I have just purchased a brand new Series 71 short wheel base cruiser in soft top form - great fun!!.....and being modded as I write.
