200 Series Hitch Receiver and Rear Camera Surprise

under system settings in my LX, i noticed some option to move the "lines" on the screen around.
i did not screw with it, but that is one option...manually reset how the lines on the screen work.

Some time next month (when the snow is gone from the roads) about to start my 10th summer towing a camper with my ‘13 LX. And the camera offset still bugs me from time to time. But like others have said you will get used to it for hooking up. I use the outside guide lines in the camera field in relation to the front of the trailer until I get the ball really close to the receiver. I still have to move sometimes after I get out to connect. What bugs me more then hooking up a trailer is the major blind spot when it comes to the passenger rear corner.

the camera system on the 200 was designed in 2006, is low res, and screen runs at 15 fps. You can fix the resolution with a $10 analog drop in, but not much can be done about the 15fps.
Tell me more about upping the resolution. Does it change it for all cameras or something that needs to be done individually? Need something more than tube TV quality.

I always seem to have the trailer in the sun and the hitch in the shade or one of the camera guide lines right over the hitch. I have been lucky lining the trailer up in the rear view mirror until I get close enough to use the camera.

It's been a couple years, but I believe its a 6v camera (or you can step up the 6v at the camera to 12v and run pretty much any generic camera). Otherwise, Analog, NTSC. Here's the dead link to the one I bought. I ended up reloing the stock camera instead, so I didn't plug it in, but I'm pretty confident it would work. My original plan was to have one camera on the swingarm, and one at stock location, and be able to just switch between. In reality I just left the swingarm on, so no need for the 2nd.
If you want a 'modern' camera or 360 deg etc you need a android head unit and replace / supplement the stock cameras with compatible items to the new HU.

It is very easy to adjust those lines.. so they line up with the trailer.

I just moved mine as I moved the camera.

Directions:
1). press the start button 2 times (do not step on the brake) and wait until the Navi gets past the continue to it's normal state.
2). Hold down the Navi setup button and cycle the headlights switch to headlights on and back to off 3 times... while holding down the setup button.
3). release the setup button and the back door menu appears.
4). then press the I think it's align button and hold it down.. then the rear camera..

Then you can move the lines around up down sideways etc..

Then start the car and see how they look.
Redo as necessary.

If you get stuck post back and I'll post some pictures.

How do you like that mini trailer? .. I have been debating between that one and the Oliver. Been leaning toward oliver for cold weather reasons.
Fisher23, finally got to trying your method (which is exactly what I was hoping for). Got through the initial steps. Looks like the only thing my 2021 allows me to change is the color of the vehicle in the overhead view (who knew?).

First screen I click "camera", second screen both view adjustment and steering angle setting are grayed out.

Any idea what I'm missing? I'll happily move the blue line over where it's centered if I can. I don't use the camera for normal backing, for that I use mirrors, so moving the lines would be great!

(And all y'all who are cool lining up your stuff with offset lines, good for you. This is my very first MUD forum post after years of using it as a resource, so give a girl a break.)

You see the screen that says "view adjustment" and it is greyed out?

Just press the "veiw adjustment" for several second and then the screen for the adjustments shows up. (They fake you out with the grey-out))

Will do! Awesome info Fisher23. Will report back with findings tomorrow!

Adjusted lines per Fisher23 and seems to have made a difference! Needed to use "-" not "+", and arrived at -35 in the first photo below. The blue 'center' line is closer for aiming and will try out for next hitch up. Second photo shows available adjustment options. Feels like I'm headed in the right direction!

Before I had a rear camera I used these telescoping poles with yellow balls on top. Put one on the trailer side and one on the hitch side, and back up using them for a visual cue. They'd probably still work with the camera to help align things. I think I got them at Walmart 20 years ago, but they probably sell them on Amazon too.

despite my previous criticism I did try this out and found a couple things

1) finding the menu…it’s like finding a hidden treasure. Reminded me of my Contra days. Up down up down left right left right etc….

2) you can do it with vehicle “on” or with engine running.

3) you have to stare at the overhead view shown in the second picture in the above post and watch the camera adjustments you are making.

4) once you make the changes. Hit OK. Let it save and then hold down setup and exit to the regular nav screen and shift into reverse to see your results. Kinda annoying to go back and forth.

(YMMV but what I was able to accomplish messing around with it)

5) you end up sacrificing an accurate overhead view…ie if you are parked next to a curb on the overhead view your curb won’t be lined up between your side and rear camera. On the rear view the lines were lined up with the hitch but the yellow line was up on the curb even when car was on the street.

It’s kinda cool but unless someone can post the magic combination to keep all the lines and picture lined up with the cars position and have the hitch in the middle I’m just sticking with the OEM view. I reverse and parallel park a lot more often the hitch my trailer. And cuz my trailer is so tiny i can manually adjust the trailer when I’m an inch or so off using the OEM view.

But kudos to posting this “hack”. That was cool.
